Good evening ladies and gents,
I've been having some issues with my 2008 wee, and I need some help. I've used the search function and had a look and a arse load of other posts, but need further help.
Firstly, bike is a 2008 Wee, with 60,000 miles on the clock. I've recently fitted a GPR 3/4 system, K+N filter and iridium plugs.
about a month or so ago, about a week after fitting the above mods, I was doing down the motorway at a fair old lick, and the bike started to cough and splutter, and back fire. I slowed down and the problem went away.
I didn't investigate at the time as I assumed that it was bit go gunk being sucked through as I had recently had a bad experience with some dodgy fuel. which I thought was resolved.
ever since then, the bike won't rev above 5-6k rpm. it feels like it is hitting the limiter and popping and banging out the exhaust. it starts and runs OK, but rev it up for overtakes etc the same problems occur.
I thought that the fuel filter maybe blocked, did the fuel flow test which proved that it was pumping a little below the recommended amount but not by much. all the same, I dished out for a new fuel pump and assembly which I fitted today. after fitting I went for a ride and the problem now seems even worse. popping banging and running really rubbish.
after reading a number of posts on this and other forums leads me to think that the next thing to look at will be the throttle linkages and butterfly valves.
Am I right in assuming that sticking linkages and butterfly valves would cause the symptoms listed above?
would lubing the linkages, and possibly removing the butterflies solve the problem?
sorry for the essay, and any help will be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance,
Jon
