Desert across Europe
« on: June 19, 2015, 20:50:33 »
Me and Mrs Lifebiker and a mate from my Army days and his missus took our Deserts across France, Germany, Austria down to Venice, Lake Garda and Verona and back through France. We did 2520 miles fully loaded with 52 litre top boxes and the bikes didn't miss a beat. In all my 47 years of serious biking this bike is one of the best I have owned for touring, anyone who complains that the the new DL1000 can't do distance is talking out of their bum.

I averaged 43.7 mpg at 85 mph on the motorways (two up fully loaded), it was comfortable and planted and when it was needed there was plenty of get up and go to get out of any potential trouble..........Italy springs to mind!

Those of you thinking about one need to take one out on a long demo to realise what it is capable of.
