Anyone fitted LED indicators?
« on: October 15, 2014, 22:20:25 »
Thinking of buying LED indicators, OEM ones, but looking at rear mud guard it looks like real PITA to get access to indicators as they have nuts completely covered with plastics and it looks like you have to remove half of the bike to get there. There must be an easy way to do it but I just don't see how.
Can anybody offer any help?
Front ones are dead easy, but the rear ones...

Thanks

I thought about it and then I saw that the OEM set costs £180 here  and decided that it wasn't worth it. Pattern ones are as little as £15 or so each - it's hard to understand how the price difference can be explained. Much like the mind-bogglingly astronomically high priced OEM fog lamps at £495!! The pricing strategy for those clearly didn't take into consideration the "market rate", given that there are equally well (better, even, maybe) made and capable lights already on the market for £150.

I might re-visit the LED indicators again if I come across some pattern ones I like and you find an easy way to change yours!  :)

Few years ago on one of my bikes I tried to change to LED indicators, avoiding to spend money on expensive ones that, just like Suzuki, original manufacturer was selling. Ended up buying 5 different sets and relays and either they were so weak (I'm freak about safety issues) or I couldn't make them blink in right sequence no metter what relay I used. After spending almost as much as the price of the OEM ones was, I ended up putting back original old ones and not having LED indicators in the end.
Lesson learned.
The Suzuki OEM kit comes with all you need, wiring, relay and guide.
I placed the order at my local dealer, negotiated with him after showing him few eBay prices and we agreed at €200 (£159). It will take 2 weeks for them to arrive.

Yikes! Still expensive,  but thanks for the heads up on cheaper alternatives.
