DL650 Colours 2015
« on: September 19, 2014, 15:55:13 »
I popped into the Superbike 56 (Suzuki) dealers at Vannes today to enquire about a new V-Strom. You may know I was looking for a red one but to my surprise I was told it was no longer available in that colour and only grey and white were. Imagine my disappointment.

The salesman went on to tell me the 2015 colours would be grey, white and BLUE! No red.  :GRR:

I asked him to check the stock he normally draws from and he told me all the red ones had been distributed and therefore sold. He then checked with a regional (West half of France) rep. who confirmed what I had just been told. Oh dear, my dream was evaporating fast.

I asked if there was any way to check any further and he said he's put a call in to someone who controls incoming stock from Japan, and yes a boat is due in towards the end of October and there were TEN RED V-Stroms in the load and so far only half had been reserved! If I wanted to reserve one I'd probably have a couple of weeks to do so!  :lala:

I need to go back with some paperwork to get mine on order and it might be tomorrow.........

Happy Bunny heh?

So how's it going so far then?

Didn't anyone tell you the blue ones are faster? The the red ones do look pretty nice. Wonder why they stopped doing it if it was a popular colour.

Yes, did the deed and ordered one this afternoon. Yippee!  :lala:  It comes with lower engine guard, hand guards and a V-Strom tank bag in the standard price. I should get it by mid November.

I'll be thinking of luggage and maybe changing the Bridgestones for Michelins if they'll take them back.

Just to settle some misguided beliefs I've already come across on this Forum the salesman told me the red ones had the comfiest seat, the longest range and (would you believe it) they're the fastest too!  :auto-biker:

I still like my own Pearl Vigor Blue (YKY) colour best of all.....

Not that there's anything wrong with (DCR) Dog Cock Red, of course.

Hope you got a good deal- with the accessories included. Happy biking!

Welcome to the Glee club.

J, I've never come across a rule like this before in any other Forum and was totally one-aware, being new here. It's certainly difficult to know you had created a thread 'A friendly request' in Site Feedback. Took me some time to stumble across it.

I did notice though that only a few minutes before you did the same thing in 'glee headlamps (poor)' thread...... Just an observation.  :eusa-think:

Point taken though.

It's not a rule, it's a guideline to help keep things uncluttered. You were just an easy target this time, it's nothing personal, and with a lot of new people joining I make a point of mentioning it every now and then so that new people just think about it before they do it. Quoting isn't forbidden, unnecessary quoting just isn't good forum etiquette. You'll notice that the quote you mentioned of mine is just a single line from his whole post, the relevant information that I needed to quote to make my response relevant and clear. A quick check to know if a quote was really needed is to check if what you've written still makes sense if there is no quote. Most of the unnecessary quoting on the forum is someone quoting a person that's just posted something right before them, everyone can already see what the previous bloke said, you don't need to quote him for us to read/scroll past again. I spend a lot of time deleting these kind of quotes, it's one little thing that makes the forum esier navigate and read through, but most people aren't aware that it improves the readability (particularly when you're searching for something old.) When it's annoyed me enough I find a victim to berate. You might start noticing the bad quotes now

Nothing personal taken, just surprised you take it out on an 'easy target' as you now call me. Perhaps directing Newbies to certain guidelines covering behaviour or do's and don'ts upon their arrival? Just an idea.  :icon-idea:

BOT

Not quite yet in the Glee club, it'll be a couple of months until mid-November. I've spent some time already looking at luggage for those longer trips next year.
