DL1000 c24 error
« on: September 05, 2014, 11:46:33 »
Hello to everyone.

I'm new here and I really need your help with a problem I have with my bike

I have Vstrom 1000 ('05 model)

The bike (usually) When I start it works fine for about a minute, then F1 starts flashing on the screen and the bike works like its in safe mode.

I checked it and the error that comes up is C24 which means problem with ignition at the cylinder.

I took it to a couple of garages and they give me different solutions but none of them gave me a definite answer.

I'm not sure I want to leave the bike to them without knowing what the problem I and how much it will cost.

Some say its a spark plug problem, others that its the ignition coil (??) and various

Has anyone else faced the same problem ?? And if so what did you do to solve it.

Thanks in advance for any advice/help you can give.

A C24 is a problem with the voltage reading at the front ignition coil. Sometimes, especially on bikes ridden on salted roads, there is a problem with the crimped wire connection to the coil corroding. A way to check is to connect the black/orange wire on the front coil to an orange/white wire at the rear coil or at the fuel pump relay. If that fixes the problem, you'll know the crimp connection of the B/O to the O/W wire in the loom has corroded.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s
