Dropped my ball bearing.
« on: August 31, 2014, 21:28:38 »
During a fault finding mission to day, I removed the clutch release assembly and 10 small ball bearings fell to the floor, along with a circular cage type of thing (with 10 holes in it).
I've cleaned everything (holder, worm & clutch arm) but I can’t for the life of me work out how or where to re-insert the ball bearings.
Question 1; Has anyone got a clue how to do it.
Question 2; If I see my arse and launch everything across the garage, would an SV 650 clutch release assembly bolt straight on.

Been there, done that.

I managed to sort mine. Try youtube, search sv650 clutch pushrod actuator, there are several videos.

Good luck.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Mine has some missing the first time I took it off. I had to buy replacements to get it back to working without being wonky.

Put some grease on the inner part, stick the ball bearings in the holes on the outside of the inner part with the grease, then carefully twist the inner part back into the outer. If the actuator isn't in the right position you'll have to take it apart and rotate it a bit before twisting it in again. You'll get the hang of it after a few failures :)

Top man Juveco, followed your system, all in first time (more luck than management on my part)
Many thanks.

Funnily enough, I dropped the whole assembly last night and 4 of the bearings went flying never to be seen again in this dimension. Luckily I had some spares so I could replace them :)

I put a zip tie around the assembly before I take it off. Mine came apart once and I don't want it to happen again.

Think they are 3mm (or an eighth inch) in case you lose 'em totally! Get them someplace like this

I replaced mine with 3mm ones, but they look a tiny bit smaller than the ones in there. Still works, but maybe they are 3.5mm bearings, 4mm would be too big. I guessed what they are the first time I ordered the spare bearings and every time I've taking it apart (or dropped it apart...) I haven't bothered to measure the bearing size.
