Is it restricted?
« on: August 18, 2014, 09:16:50 »
Hi All,

I went for a little jaunt to Germany the other weekend, and whilst on the Autobahn I decided to open up the throttle all the way.  I managed to get 132mph out of it whilst it was fully loaded with weight. I was happy with that, but then went for a ride round the Nurburgring, and still could only get 132mph max out of it whilst it was unloaded. It just made me wonder if it is restricted. I mentioned it to the Suzuki sales blokes and they speculated that it might be the case.

Just wondering what others have found and their thoughts on it.

All input greatly appreciated.

I doubt that it is restricted other than by the exhaust (by way of minimizing emissions).

From what I have read they are "governed" to 125mphish... so about 135mph indicated. Possibly to do with stability issues, but in this country you don't need anymore! :)

The Vee is definitely restricted in 5th and 6th at higher revs. Not sure about the Veek, but I wouldn't be surprised.

I thought I had a dyno plot somewhere.

I have a TRE fitted which smooths out the low rev/low speed throttle response but also removes the restriction in 5th and 6th (it fools the ECU into thinking you are always in 4th gear).

I thought the Veek and Honda crossover both suffered restrictions hence the different top ends given by all the testers MCN etc.

As said before Vee's are governed to 125mph and given the Vee's legendary handling    I wouldn't want to go much faster than that anyway .
My Vee is fully deristricted and is capable of well above 125mph but I like it for its smooth power deliver and throttle response , I feel all the mods make the bike how it's supposed to be instead of a strangled beast constantly caged ..
