Radiator size
« on: August 13, 2014, 13:21:30 »
Hi all , I have a v strom 1000 k8 that I trying to get on the road , its a cat c write off .
The radiator is badly bent but amazingly still not leaking , but fan hitting against its now banana shape .
Found one on ebay but for a 650 , 2006 model . Looks the same though ? anyone know if it will fit ?
Also how often do the electric fans come on ? is it just in traffic ? Maybe I could do without one ?
Thanks for any thoughts  :text-imnewhere:

650 and 1000 radiators are different. The fan is only needed when stopped or moving very slowly. If you never see 3 bars on the engine temperature display, the fan is never engaged.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s
