KLV 1000 - A2H - 2005/55 - SOLD
« on: August 04, 2014, 14:43:07 »
I have been riding Mrs Chopps K1200R Sport for the past few months, and the KLV has barely turned a wheel since the MOT in May 2014..
We both agree that we should keep the K12, so the KLV1000 is for sale  :

KLV1000 A2H, one of the final KLVs to be registered
Registered 05/12/2005 - DX55 ---

Three previous owners
Owners handbook and service booklet
Two keys

Supplied with all previous MOT's and detailed service history.

Purchased in December 2012 - mileage 27,764
I spent that winter fettling the KLV, and will supply detailed receipts/photos of the work :

Three brake caliper strip and rebuild with DOT 5.1 - see below.
Clutch slave cylinder/pushrod strip and rebuild with new oil seal and DOT 5.1 - see below.

Suspension linkage strip and rebuild with shorter link arms - see below.

New X-ring chain, chain and sprockets were replaced by previous owner but chain had tight spots.

Rear sprocket hub bearing replaced

MOT History
22/02/2011 - 25,439
07/02/2012 - 27,751
14/06/2013 - 27,776
27/05/2014 - 28,397

Mileage today - 28,550

Goodies
SW-Motech Engine bars
SW-Motech Engine sump guard
SW-Motech Headlamp guard

Bar risers +1"

Goodridge Aeroquip +2" custom front braided stainless brake hoses (Race pattern, one hose to each caliper)
Goodridge Aeroquip +2" custom front braided stainless clutch hose
Goodridge Aeroquip rear braided stainless brake hose.

The brake action and efficiency is outstanding.

Skidmarx +2" tinted flip screen
Clear indicator lenses

+1" Ride height - shorter rear suspension links (dog bones), perfect of you are 6' or over.
I will refit the standard links if you prefer.

+1" Sidestand  - this cures the excessive lean when on the side stand, which is more pronounced with the raised rear suspension.

Here are some shots taken today - I will try again this evening when the sun is lower.

I am asking a realistic £2995, which is a fair price for a bike in excellent condition.

Regards

Chopps

Well, it is cheaper than all of the KLV on eBay at the moment, with full history and no surprises.

I don't need to give it away, but would like it gone before the end of the season.

Made it In my workshop, I split the original stand into three sections, 1cm above and below the loop.

Inserted a 100mm length of round steel bar into each side for stength, with a 25mm gap between the sections.

I MIG'd the three sections precisely together, then stick welded to fill the profile as arc rods are much cheaper than mig wire and argon/co2.

A quick finish on belt sander and better than new - 50mm longer than stock, you could add more according to taste  :)

that's a bit harsh ain't it.... maybe it is because we already have bikes which is why we are members of the forum in the first place?

I personally think that bike looks good and if I was on the market I would consider it but the reality is, I'm not on the market and now seems to be the time many people are putting their bikes to bed for winter so many folk do not to buy at this time to keep it locked away in the shed?

I do hope you find a buyer but comment like the one above will not help with that.

If you are fishing for comments then feel free to quote me reducing the wording to..

"I personally think that bike looks good and if I was on the market I would consider it but the reality is, I'm not on the market"

Hope this helps

+1 Ridaz.

You need to cast your net wider, chopper. It looks a good bike.
