Well done Phil. Start those Sherberts.

He's an ounce more than I was, so he could grow a lot yet  :)

Congratulations Phil - it must feel brilliant, though! :occasion-balloons:  :occasion-balloons:  :obscene-drinkingcheers:

I was very excited to become an uncle on Wednesday, but very worried this evening as my 2 day old niece has now had to go into surgery for a diaphragmatic hernia. Will hear later this evening how she's doing....

Well that was quicker than expected! Within a few minutes of posting that message I got a call from my sister telling me that everything has gone smoothly and she's doing better than expected  :occasion-balloons:

(To clarify, better than expected means there was a high risk of reduced lung capacity or respiratory problems, but she has none of this and is now perfectly healthy  :)  )

My daughter lost the sight in her left eye 5 weeks ago, the joy came as the optic nerve healed and her eyesight returned.  MS can be so cruel.  On a lighter note, the joy of finding, and following, instructions on line for how to adjust a cupboard door hinge so that it no longer fouled on the door below. On a wholly bumble brag moment, my wife's joy at being able to swimming our pool - it only took 8 weeks to replace broken parts and clean up consequent filth, to enjoy clear, clean water.
I must remember these when I wake up my usual curmudgeonly self.

The thing that has filled me with joy is..... my bike. While I have been riding for 34 odd years, the last 7 or so have been somewhat joyless, for a variety of reasons. I'd pretty much stopped just 'going for a blast' and the bike had become transport from a to b. One of the reasons was down to the bikes I was riding - an enormously dull Honda Deauville 650 and 2 BMW K11LT's (which weren't particularly dull just bloody expensive to run). Several episodes of serious depression didn't help either.

Following getting my Vee (if that's the correct term for the thou') I have noticed my grin coming back. Today I had to go out to the pet shop. Normally it's a straight there and back, about two and half miles. Fifty five miles later, I got home, silly grin plastered all over me face and feeling great. I would have done more but I was taking the other half out for Sunday lunch to celebrate her new job.  Tomorrow, though, it's going to be a full tank and follow my nose.

I think I've got my mojo back. YIPPEE!   :lala:

My dogs 'Che' and 'Muddy', Alaskan Malamutes, which we've had since pups about 9 years ago. They always made us smile when things might not be going too well, they always had time for me especially at breakfast and supper times, they'd 'speak' in their own dog language and we loved them to bits. Late on Saturday night Che wasn't his usual crazy self and was whimpering with pain. A late night visit to the vet and surgery found an untreatable tumour at his pancreas and about 1.00 am I was with him when he was put to sleep. Later that morning he was buried in the garden. Myself, my wife and Muddy have been grieving since the loss and it's sometimes that horrific loss which makes us appreciate the relatively normal activities that fill our lives with joy. Che was a character and loving and loyal to the end. He's more than sadly missed.

So sorry for you. I've lost dogs over the years and the pain is still as keen each time.
