You did say all ideas. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SV1000-DYNOJE ... 43cdf0147b

Not far from you either...

Whether or not it would work who knows but I bet someone does. Try this bloke http://www.dynobike.co.uk/ he set up my bike and is very well versed in the ways of the Suzuki V twins.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Unfortunately the SV1000 PC doesn't appear to fit the DL1000. They have different Dynojet part numbers.
Seastar Superbikes at Newton Flotman, about 8 miles south of Nowich on the A140 Ipswich Road, have dyno facilities and I think are Power Commander specialsits. I've known of them for years and they're a good company to deal with. You could leave your bike with them and go out on their Ducati Panigale demo.....

You should be able to pick up a PC3 USB for around £100 on Ebay.

yes it was actually Seastar that I referred to above, I've used their dyno before for other bikes too, but the cost of their set-up plus power commander puts this minor stutter into the £200-£500 bracket, it's not so bad to be worth spending that much on it.  Oh for a bike with carbs with pilot jets...

If you could pick up a used PC3 and fit it yourself what would be the cost for them to set it up for you?
The Yoshi boxes are Suzuki specific but cover a whole range of their fuel injected bikes. These also crop up on Ebay from time to time.

Interesting thought but by the look of their site they want minimum £170+vat to do that, even if I found a used PC3

http://www.seastarsuperbikes.co.uk/tuning.html

Good thinking on a used Yoshi box- here's one    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/YOSHIMURA-FUE ... 35da6ef742

tempting...

You could buy the Yoshi box and then go into business tweaking other peoples bikes at £50 a time!

Going back to the PC. Although getting it setup on a dyno is the best solution you can make a reasonable stab at it yourself. The PC3 has three fuelling buttons on it and these can be altered on the road side, either weakened or richened. Also the Dynojet software allows to modify an existing map in much more detail and then download onto the PC3. So if you have an idea what the engine is doing (rich or weak) at particular R.P.M. and throttle openings you can alter the fuelling yourself. This is quite safe for normal road use. On my Vee I always felt it was running rich (black exhaust and low 40s to the gallon) and the PC map I ended up using, weakens the mixture right through the range. Result is that the bike runs better and uses less fuel. This seems to be completely at odds with the largely held view that the Vee's poor low end running is due to an over weak mixture and needs richening.......

Yes, either that or I could buy it, use it then re-ebay it- which is far more likely to be successful that using my limited soldering skills to make one. Agree about not really needing a dyno, by the looks of the one pictured on ebay (which seems to pre-date the vee anyway though) it doesn't need to be plugged into the mains so you could easily do a roadside trial and error approach - or maybe even tape it somewhere suitable and try the adjusting whilst riding.

Mine's definitely at the weaker end of the scale, 52-58mpg at speed and spotless plugs and exhaust. I'll keep an eye out for a s/h PC3 too, though all these approaches seem a bit of a sledgehammer to crack a nut,  I will check out the local Suzuki dealer too just in case they have a box ....

Juv, does the yoshi box work with the wee? If it does then I would be interested in building one.

Your local friendly Suzuki dealer will stick it on a yoshi box for a few quid

Yep it will work with the Wee, but the Wee is pretty well mapped from the factory. It'll only really be of use if you've changed a few things, say K&N filter & better exhaust, and you are going to dyno it.

It can but there is no need. Beware those who put a Yosh box on an ECU and don't document it. If the bike is ever sold, the thing will be off stock settings and the new owner won't have a clue.

I've already fitted a pipercross air filter and a new exhaust is in the pipeline (pardon the pun), so it may prove useful. Agreed greywolf, any changes must be systematic and documented.

Still, chances are you won't need any changes. The FI system takes care of the intake change as the sensors are on the clean side of the filter and the exhaust change doesn't really make much difference to the intake charge on a four stroke.

I agree with Greywolf, my bike uses a K&N filter and has a GPR exhaust, no need for any changes to the fuel map. It's really the people with Vees that need things fixing because Suzuki fekked it up on purpose to get past emission regulations.
