I could have cried !
« on: March 15, 2014, 00:37:39 »
So , I washed the bike the other day after a most enjoyable ride through the borders.
Being a lazy barstweard I used the local jet wash and managed to blast the coating from about 15% of my water pump on a 2011 bike. The tears are welling  up in my eyes as I speak, please help, what can I paint the offending component with so that it doesn't look so bad ?

Probably a daft question but is it possible to remove the water pump cover and the other usual suspect side covers to repaint without ending up with a puddle of water or oil on the floor?

Mine need doing and just wondered if easier to do on the bike or easy to remove and respray.

Cheers
Jay

Removing the water pump cover will let all the water out.

Coolant and oil should be drained to remove the cover to take the water pump off.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.

Thanks for confirming.

Will have a go with the covers in situ.

A big thumbs up for the Engine Paint, went for the Satin and really impressed by how easy it went on.  Just the right thickness to go on with one brush stroke, not too thick as to droop or show brush marks.

Will see how long it lasts, but easy enough to repaint when needed.

Thanks again for the tips!  :thumb:
