Glee engine coolant
« on: February 08, 2014, 13:23:09 »
Have you noticed which coolant the Glee has in it.
1. Suzuki super long life coolant (blue) 48 month/14500 mile
2. Suzuki long life coolant (green) 24 month/7500 mile

Bike is 24 months old and looking at changing the coolant

Do you know what's in yours

Mine is green, thinking when time comes, to change it to blue if the price is not astronomically different.

Just out of curiosity, looked at some prices and Suzuki green and blue coolants are arround £12-13 per Litre. That's very expensive. I've heard about a lot of coolants that can be used on our bikes, as long as they are aluminium engine/radiator frendly. I've heard about excellent coolant sold at Honda car dealers, called "Coolant Type 2", cheap and good, with same caracteristics as Suzuki blue coolant. I don't know what to do, 2 years service is closing in and as I'm going to do it myself I have to choose the coolant and not sure it HAS TO BE Suzuki expensive one.

I'm after some coolant and brake fluid as the bike is 24 months old in June, I thought while I'm at it I will purchase air/oil filter and oil.
below is what I have purchased today

Genuine Suzuki Super Long Life Coolant (blue) £10.
Genuine Suzuki Air Filter £20
Brake fluid £7.50
Suzuki oil filter and Silkolene oil £34

Any aluminium safe anti-corrosion coolant should do. Bar a few expensive ones they are all about the same and the Stroms have a good cooling system so you don't need anything that special.

Out of pure curiosity I looked at the coolant in my glee and it's green. Of little help to this thread but there you go.

Any coolant suitable for aluminium engine should be fine.
The blue and green stuff can usually be mixed with the pink but it makes a disgusting brown concoction.
I'd stick to the blue/green stuff unless your doing track days.

My Suzuki dealer uses Silkolene MAG co-ol, and that is what I have in my bike. Fat rat, do something with this words swapper. I write co-ol (without dash) and it changes word to cold.
