7,500 mile/12 month Service Intervals

It took a while but at last something positive (from my perspective) on the new DL1000 (see the Suzuki Press Release section).

I'm still not buying one until they are priced correctly.

It's about time Suzuki did something about it's ridiculously short service intervals.
I agree about the price at the moment, when it gets down to a sensible price I will reconsider what is to me a lovely bike to ride.  I'd have to spend about £1500 to get it somewhere near where I'd want it so it would have to reach about £8500 before it would be in my garage.

why doesn't someone tell Suzuki that in the considered opinion of 42 members of this forum the new 1000 is overpriced by approximately £2000

are they listening,, I very much doubt it

Yeah, 8.5k is the price point I'd be looking at, but too late now, I'm going to be going down the Yamaha route probably for 3 years. My wee will still be in the garage but owned by my son.

Same as you in grey. I wanted a blue one but grey was all they had and Branson's in yeovil have sold their blue one too. Branson's have a white one if anyones interested, same price, 8999, but white doesn't do anything for me.

Too late Mr Suzuki.

Nobody believes you developed a bike and put it on sale without knowing what the service interval was.

No matter now as its here and lets be honest the average annual mileage for a bike in the UK is 3,000 miles or 12 months.
I am one that it will effect as I do about 10.000 miles a year and this year will be more as 3 trips abroad already.

Get mine mid February.

The average for all bikes may be about 3000 miles, but I reckon great many sports bikes, harleys and other cruisers probably average a lot less than that and bikes like ours average a lot more.

The service intervals at 7500 miles is usable, and if they don't increase the Glees ones, then will make it harder to resist the extra oomph from the extra 350cc.

They state 'engine development' has resulted in the greater service interval. Hard to retro apply that to existing machines, up to you if you want to push your Glee service, I will be once it's out of warranty.

At least this is some good news on the new 1000 front, now we just need a year or two for the price to level off and we have ourselves a new, worthwhile addition to the family. It will garner new members I'm sure, after all, the Glee has. :)

Well done Suzuki for closing the stable door there...

It's an improvement but way too late, and no the 650 is an old design engine, or some shiyt like that Suzuki will come out with so it'll stay 3,500 until (if) the next development of the engine comes out in 4-5 years

Its £1500 too expensive, should come standard with a center stand, larger screen (with better, stronger mounts) and less flimsy plastics and a fecking shaft drive!  :violence-smack:
It may handle, I may find out when the local dealer gets a demo bike after Suzuki wouldn't let me use their Spanish registered ones.  :angry-tappingfoot:

The Super 10 is right on the top of my list for a new(er) bike next year, but I will require an unlimited mileage insurance policy and if the insurance companies want me to bend over and take it for the Yam I would seriously be considering a, now discontinued 700 Transalp or a Deauville for the reliability of the long lived but bland engine.

I'm still favouring an adventure bike but I may well be persuaded into a Pan 1300 if we start doing more longish distance tours and I stop giving a road bike like the Strom a pasting off road and get a 250cc offroader.

I don't believe this 'new engine development' line - if it were true then it wouldn't have taken so long for Suzuki to reply. I bet if it hadn't come up on here it would have been 3,500 as standard across their range.

It is good news for the DL1000, though I won't be buying one due to the poor finish quality on my Glee (sounds like this is worse)

I agree, if there hadn't been so many questions and so much riding on service intervals they'd have just thrown the 3,500 at it and closed the book.

I've always said that their modern engines coupled with modern oils could go much longer than 3,500.
