Questions for Suzuki
« on: October 02, 2013, 18:12:11 »
The General Manager at Suzuki Motorcycle Sales & Marketing has asked me to send in some questions to be answered as part of the VIP event next week around the new V-Strom 1000, I need them by Friday morning.

Please keep them sensible and on topic  :)

First one has to be service intervals - how can you cross Europe with a 4000 mile service interval?

definately ask why service intervals are so short for an 'adventure' bike.

ask how the mpg/fuel economy has improved so much. especially since the old bike was thirsty. I think I read in the mcn that mpg was in high 50's and tank range of 260-270 if memory serves me right.

Will there be a more 'off road' oriented version with wire wheels etc ?
It's pronounced 'twenty-one-twelve'

Will there be a GT version

Will there be more than one luggage option

Why did you move away from the iconic (and very effective) twin headlights

Have you addressed the buffeting issues common across current models

How do you think this bike compares with the Tiger 1200 and Versys 1000

No rear hugger

can I get one for free?   :shy:

will accessory options be available to see/try on the bike at dealer open days? (I'm more interested in seat options and screens other than heated grips ect)

Why when the original and update 650 Vstrom were reasonably priced to make it a very attractive bike, have they priced this is the same range as other manufacturer Adventure/Sport bikes that are equipped better than the new 1000 Vstrom?

Have they accommodated the shorter rider ie seat/suspension options or are they leaving that to aftermarket suppliers

Will there be luggage that has enough capacity for two persons for more than a weekend?

Why can other manufacturers get service intervals into 5 figures when Suzuki choose not to go even half way there?

What's the RRP in Europe?

Please don't take this the wrong way as I'm a genuine fan of the site and the support it gives but why is the styling of the new 1000 so hideous?  It looks like Daffy Duck. I really couldn't open the garage door to it and I really like the idea of a decent GS alternative.  Have focus groups been used in the development of the styling?

The revised aesthetics (albeit minor) on the 650 (in my opinion) make it a genuinely nice looking bike (not that there's anything wrong with the original (I have a 61 plate Xpedition and its fantastic).  Why not just copy the new 650s styling as was done with the original vstrom 1000 to 650?

Hope to hear the feedback as genuinely interested.

Kind regards
Martyn

If you only get to ask one question it has to be service intervals.
