I've just spoken to J&S in Doncaster, they have an open day/evening in October (on a Thursday)

The 'unconfirmed' news is the DL1000 will be £10,995 plus OTR, this is for the base model  :banghead:

£10,995 plus OTR?  lol  lol  lol

Only £650 quid less than a BMW R1200GSW.
FFS. Anyone buying one at that price deserves to have their @rse kicked so hard it comes out through the top of their head. £8995 and it would have got my vote. Unfortunatley at £11k you are into seriously good motorcycle territory. Unfortunately Suzuki isn't on that list. Nor will it ever be.
Whoooosh!!!!!! `What was that?` That was your life passing by. `Can I have another go as I havent done anything yet?`........ Sorry, only one go for everyone.

They should be competing with the Versys 1000, if they are not, then they will lose sales.

It is unconfirmed but worrying that dealers are suggesting that price.

It's like Alex Ferguson saying, Oh yes, Scunthorpe are a vey good team, we expect a real hard game.

I can see it now...

"yes sir we were expecting the bike to be priced at 11k, but they have priced it very competitively at 9.5k, we can't possibly discount it below that, we are already not making a profit on it"

6 months later it becomes part of the Suzuki £800 cash back offer

I note that Kawasaki have not launched the 2014 Versys yet, even though you can see it on the Canadian site in green. I suspect they are waiting to decide on whether to increase the price on it depending on what Suzuki price the DL1000 at.

Dear Mr Suzuki,

I won't be paying £11K for that.

Cheers,
A Customer.

If they price it that high they'll soon have to drop it to get anyone to buy it. Things are only worth what people are willing to pay for them and I'd venture that very few people are willing to pay that much for a new Vee.

I think whatever it's priced at it won't be a good bet right away. Dealers don't discount brand new bikes because the new bike buzz usually sells enough of them to begin with. I wouldn't buy any bike until they've been around for a year or two and have reached their real price.

When I'm looking for a new bike around winter 2014/15 I don't think the new Vee will be good enough value which is why it probably won't be on the list. Whereas if I was looking in 2015/16 instead it probably would be.

And a BMW will be on the list...  lol   lol   lol   lol  :neen:

My list consists on another Wee, a glee, older Vee, Veek, 700 deauville or a transalp.

There is sod all else I would trust as my only transport when you factor in the issues raised on owners forums for trumpet tiger and BMW.

Maybe :) I don't value reliability above all else though... It's a factor for me, but not the only factor in choosing bikes. Especially if I keep the Glee as well as getting a new bike, which is plan A. That would mean I know that I have one ultra-reliable bike so can afford to take risks in choosing the other one.

I have a feeling I may get a Caponord though... Ticks a lot of boxes for what I'm looking for. Shaft drive would have been nice, but Hello, can't have everything. I think they will have dropped a bit in price (after discounts) by the time I can actually buy anyway.

Popped into a Suzuki dealer here in central France and asked about the new Vee. They said it should be available February/March next year but didn't have a price as yet. Interesting that a lot of bike shops here have multiple franchises. This one had Kawasaki and Yamaha as well. Something you you don't often see in the UK.

I was speaking to my local dealer on Thursday and they reckon the new 1000 is going to be around the £9600 mark.

My local dealer reckons £9995, but I told him it would have to be £9K max going by the feedback on here.
