Electrifying the tank bag
« on: August 12, 2013, 16:17:15 »
I seem to have grown a big pile of toys that need charging and keeping out of the way of light fingers. Having looked at the price of kits to do this I went for the DIY solution and bought a DIN socket, two DIN plugs and a cigarette lighter socket on e-bay for fifteen quid. I then made a pair of plates out of 2mm ally to mount the DIN socket and used a soldering iron to make the required holes. The two plugs made an extension to connect the bag to the Wee's aux socket under the tank. The laptop charger is from Maplins, the camera battery charger is Wasabi.

When I want to come away from the bike I can just unplug, unzip and go with the expensive half of Currys as safe as they'll get in the bag. The foam keeps the netbook away from the magnets.

Maplins laptop charger (also has a USB)

Wasabi charger

The *****y USB cables seem to just breed if left alone! The USB emergency/torch thingy was a Christmas present.

Thanks for the kind words. Enjoy.
