SOLVED - C17 Fault
« on: August 09, 2013, 16:17:54 »
Hi all,  just thought I'd post this for future reference.  Bike (2010 DL650 30k miles) went in for a service and was fine for a 300 miles jaunt to France the following day, but the day after on a ride out with my IAM club she started playing up after the first stop.  It was as if she was running on one cylinder, one moment fine and the next she would reduce in power and slow down a bit which is rather unnerving mid overtake or in the outside lane.
Unfortunately by this point I was almost in Eastbourne having left from Ryka's.  Managed to get her home eventually but with intermittent reduction in power, full stall, or just a pulsing engine.

At home I put her in dealer mode (should have read the guides on here better as first I removed my pannier frames in order to try and get to what turned out to be the ABS connector!  Former SV650 owner so old habits die hard!) having found the correct connector and the code was...

C17 Intake Air Pressure Sensor (IAPS) - 07 & Up 650 Only

Seeing at I was struggling to find neutral too (following the service) I took her back to the garage to give them the opportunity to sort it out.  In the end the owner held his hands up as the IAP sensor wasn't fully seated and had started to make it's way loose.  You blokes might have a better understanding as to why he disconnected it in the first place? To get to the spark plugs or replace the air filter?

Anyway, all sorted touch wood!

It's on the lower part of the airbox. Neither action should have touched it.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s
