I bought new because it worked out cheaper at 4% over 4 years from Suzuki themselves than buying a good second hand bike from a dealer borrowing the money from the bank. I was given £3,200 for my GSXF in part exchange, I may have also got a bit less if buying used. All in all it actually worked out cheaper for me to buy new, so why pay more for used?

Anyone know the new V-Strom DL1000's brake-horse-power....? Will they have increased the fuel capacity and maybe fitted better brakes I wonder..?

Cause Suzuki standard brakes are shite...!

The brakes are radials. Suzuki understand the importance of tank range on tourers, so I wouldn't worry about that. As far as bhp goes who cares, it's torque that matters and I'm sure it will be an improvement over the old one.

+ 1 for radial brakes  :thumb:

My Guzzi came with the front brakes from an Aprilia RSV4, way too powerful for a lardy adventure bike but it's like hitting a brick wall when you give them a good squeeze ! If the new 1000's brakes are half as good they'll still be ten times better than the old ones ! Mind you, brakes only slow you down...

Abercol, Explorer valve clearance is every 20k isn't it? What's wrong with that?

I thought it was every 10k.....20k is better.

Of course, Triumph are now having issues with unidentified engine ticky noises on the Explorers....  Say they'll fix 'em all FOC, but what's to say they'd keep to that if yours started doing it at 5 yrs old.

I thought they were doing the work to all Explorers, not just the ones affected.

And the 2012 Glee first hit the streets in 2011, so I'd guess "soon".

I wonder when manufacturers see the best time to launch a new model. My reasoning is that before the season gives them the most chance. Therefore I suppose March/April?

Our motorcycle season doesn't really come into it, Suzuki will not just be selling this model to the UK market.
Now on a Super Tenere having put 64k miles on a 2011 DL650

Think I'll just go with Vee2 until someone comes up with something better.

How about ICBM ? THE old Vee would be a Vee1, so a buzzbomb. The new Vee would be a Vee-2 so ICBM? Or am I thinking a little to deep about it?
