fuel economy Wee vs Bandit
« on: June 18, 2013, 18:33:25 »
Hi All,

By coincidence I parked my B650 next to one of you blokes in the MMU car park today. It got me thinking about mpg and a quick google found this.
http://www.stromtrooper.com/DL650-2012/ ... onomy.html
The bloke reckons on 72.43mpg on a commute and 88.28 on a run on a 2012 V650. If those figures are anything like correct that puts the V in direct competition with the new Honda 500s, also on the car park and looking a bit small in comparison to ours.
So, are any of you riding carefully enough to get those figures? If they are possible I wonder why Suzuki haven't used that fact in their advertising. For info I get low 50s commuting on my K7 B650 if I try hard enough.

Best wishes,

10 mile city centre commute I get around 55mpg on a k7 650. I think the Glee has better mpg.

Those numbers sound a bit high to me. He seems to have calculated them on a single tank (for each number he gives) so I wouldn't trust them myself. Note that the 88 mpg figure was done at 80kph, that's 50mph, and on a road with no traffic. It's probably possible on the new Wee, but also possible that you'll die of boredom before you run out of fuel (particularly on a road with no traffic!)  :neen:

pounds / euros into tank divided by miles travelled on our recent Germany trip,, motorways, A and B roads along with lots of twisties,,,, I reckon averaged 60 MPG.. on my 2007 DL 650X...

maybe give or take 10% for currency rates ...

I second what Juvecu says.
88mpg sounds quite high, and boredom will be a factor if you want to get that sort of mpg on a regular basis.

I get around 54-58mpg from my old model wee which by all accounts is fairly good.
Newer model wee's get maybe 5mpg more and the glee gets maybe 5mpg more again.

so really your looking at high 60's

I will say that the best mpg I had was 68mpg on a run which was more or less the full length of the M4.
I was bored to tears doing about 60-65mph, everything overtook me and I only pulled off the m-way for a pee, fag and coffee. I did 234 miles and the dash still showed 2 bars our of 5 when normally I'd have done maybe 180 miles to still have 2 bars showing.

I had 89 showing on the mpg readout after I'd filled up in Leyburn during the Squires meet, I'd been stuck at 40mph in a limit and behind a load of Harley's that I couldn't get past, they ride as one, slowly.
