Yes, Suzuki main dealer. I actually paid £100 less because Suzuki had previously given me £100 credit for another matter.

UPDATE

So spoke to Streetbike today and went through the invoice that Fatbelly kindly provided.

I asked what I was getting extra to justify their price of £ 497.00 over Fatbelly's £ 340.00  :wtf:

Basically the parts were almost identical; Streetbike hadn't quoted for a new air filter but the other invoice didn't include two new rockers cover gaskets at £38 a pair. The big difference was in labour £ 358.00 as opposed to £ 170.00!

They offered me a 10% discount which still meant there was a £107 discrepancy. I asked them to cancel the booking and said that although I had purchased my DL650 from their just a few weeks ago and bought copious amounts of clothing and accessories off them over the past few years, I would not be returning as a customer.

Five minutes later the phone rang with a revised price of £ 375.00  :lala:

Thanks for all of your help and advice in getting this sorted. It's very much appreciated

Have I managed to find the servicing bargain of the century or am I missing something:

My 2010 Wee (K9 model I think ?), 3 years old with 10k on the clock

* Changed the oil
* New filters (oil and air I think he said)
* New plug / plugs (I don't know how many its got)
* Adjusted, cleaned and oiled the chain
* Adjusted the scotoiler as it didn't seem to be doing much
* Checked fluid levels on coolant and brakes
* Adjusted the front brake because it was catching slightly
* Greased / oiled various cables
* Checked the throttle bodies (whatever they are)
* Checked the valve clearances which needed no adjustment
* Generally checked / tightened everything ready for me going away at the end of the month

Total cost - £120

Well done Little_Chris  :thumb:
Frenchie , it does sound like the bargain of the century . Who done the work ? The materials would cost about £75 so that's £45 labour ? Just seems to cheap with all the work they done

Thanks for the reply Locky.

It's a small garage near me, a motorbike specialists operating out of a industrial unit. They do breakdown and recovery stuff, MOT's, repairs and servicing and occasionally buy and sell second hand bikes as well as custom builds of trikes.  They seem to know their stuff. This is my second service there now, nothing fell off after the last one so I'm taking that as a good sign.  They are moving to a much bigger unit next week so business is obviously good I guess.

They've just started to do basic mike maintenance training one night a week which I should probably attend given that I know nothing about the oily bits

Great bit of telephone bargaining there Chris, makes you realise how much some places take the piss on their servicing charges..

Courtesy bike for 24 hours was a Suzuki M1800Z which I took for a laugh because there was no Burgman!

What an odd looking bike!

Frenchie, definitely do the basic maintenance course if you can. It's always good to know how things work, even if you don't do the work on the bike yourself you'll know what you're paying for (and you'll find out what checking the throttle bodies is :) )

I must admit, I'm a bit sceptical that the valve check was done properly for that kind of money/time.

I agree, not enough time/money for everything else and valve clearance, even just a check with no shim changes..

Frenchie,

I'm sceptical of what you really had done to the bike too. You say you only have 10K on the clock, so the valve clearances are not even due for another 4K miles. I reckon they were not done on your £120 service.
