The people who report regular 73mpg on a Glee - have you switched it to US Gallons perhaps?

US gallons are smaller.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

I dream of even getting 35 mpg on my Vee, but the aftermarket cans, 55 ltr top box and riding style do not help!

I usually get around 35mpg on my k2 vee, with it increasing to 45 if on a long run.

You two have the 1000 version though , I would imagine that uses a tad more fuel than the 650.

Above taken from my iPhone fuel record app.
I have no complaints what so ever. The bottom two figures are fully loaded luggage + the boss, touring Scotland. The rest are on my own, top box only touring Ireland. The top four cost figures are actually in Euro, not £ so the cost per litre is not relevant. Very little motorway work with the top figures, what there was, was at my bikes "cruse all day" happy speed of between 4 1/2 - 5 thou revs in top gear. Oh, one final thought, NO supermarket cheap stuff and every now and again I fill it with "premium" grade fuel - expensive but I think it feels better for it.

Some impressive stats there Cabra. I rarely get a chance to go out and do a full tank in one sitting where I could see how much mpg I could get on a run. My commute is 4 miles, and a weekend run tends to be overly spirited! I reckon I could get up to 50 if I was trying. My bike is 10 years old with aftermarket cans and a top box too so all of those may hinder the economy a tad.

As a "V" rider......... (spirited riding is about 36mpg  :auto-dirtbike: ) my only concern is trying to make it to the next fuel stop.

Worst I've had on my 07 Vee is 29.5 mpg, but I was being BAD that day. If I do a 140 mile round trip on the motorway I'm getting around 60 mpg, but my average is around 36 mpg as most of my riding is "spirited" country roads (good to know we are equally spirited  :lala: ).

I have top box on all the time and I'm on the XXL size.  :neen:

You blokes get better MPG on Vees that I get on my old Wee  52-53 is pretty much my all time average since I got the bike. It might go up a bit now that I only do a slowish 26 mile daily commute.

I had the same thoughts as Juvecu. My Wee is practically always 53mpg, no matter what I do.

my k6 usualy gets somewhere between 50 and 54, but recently I have been riding with the mrs and my daily commute to work of 6miles and I'm getting 55-59.
mainly as I'm taking it easy when I'm out on my own and Jen's bike isn't quick off the mark so I'm only having to keep up with a 125cc with a new rider.

Don't panic all you "thirsty" Wee owners....filled up the Vee last night, 199 miles, 19.3 litres so about 47mpg.

that's pretty average for me, a mix of dual carriageways at speed, fast A& B roads and about 50miles at a 60mph bimble with the Mrs on the back. Very little rush hour stuff, just 20-25 minutes or so.
