Maxis Tyres?
« on: May 11, 2009, 18:42:55 »
I will soon be due to get a new set of Tyres and have heard that Maxxis do an adventure style set.

I know that they are cheaper and my brother uses the sport one's on his ZX9 street fighter.  :thumb:  He doesn't get a lot of miles out of them, but he doesn't do that much anyway. I was wondering, has anybody on here been using them and what do you think?  :shy:

I have been on the Bridgestone Trialwings for the last 16500 miles (2 rear to 1 front) and I quite like them but I am open to other suggestions. I do about 1000 - 1200 miles per month without big trips (which are few and far between)  :GRR: so I need a lasting dual purpose tyre (traily style). I know it has been done to death  :banghead:  but I have not heard any reports of usage of the maxxis. I don't want to get  cheaper Tyres and get less mileage out of them if you know what I mean   .

 Cheer's  :fix:

I'm due a new rear and decided to have a look at the Maxxis  MA-PD but can't seem to find a supplier and price. Anyone know how much cheaper they are than a tourance? (£90 for a rear).

Yeah, I know - mixing fronts and rears can be bad, but my 130 mile daily round trip to work is eating tyres. Also I don't really get the chance to gas it and push the tyres on my commute so I ain't that fussed.

Yeah KLV rider, what's the score? What shop you got?

I'd be interested to try one of the maxxis and see how they compare. Let me know the P&P on that price and I might be tempted to give one a go.

Anyone tried them? What mileage did you get and how did the bike handle? I've looked for reviews and found very little.

When you buuy these and get them delivered - are you fitting them [or any tyre] yourselves?  Or are you taking them to the local garage to fit?

what's it like doing tyres?  Do you need special tools?
Remember - Enjoy it!

I've got tyres delivered before and just took them to a tyre place to have them fitted and balanced. Cost about £10 - £15. If you do tubeless at home I think you need a compressor to force the tyres on to the wheel rims. Not sure how else you'd do it.
