I finally got my missing parts and with the assistance of my mate Davey I have wall mounted cupboards. The doors are on gas rams and open with a very gentle action, which is nice. I have installed a 1400mm long led light strip underneath which is spot on for lighting up the bench. Very happy and my worktop tool box is going to be filled with all the most commonly used tools over the next few nights. It's coming on nicely

easy solution !!! turn them upside down. Earth pin at bottom and flex going upwards !!..

Easy to rectify when he finds out for the first time.

Just shorten the trunking & move sockets up to easy hand height.

Tusker, Just above the work table are two twin sockets.
Above the Right socket is the trunking.
Just enlarge the picture to see it.

PS. just follow your nose.

Ah, see it now ,, but still means cutting trunking, making making new holes and repainting etc.. just turn them over !!!!!

To be honest I wouldn't use 1/8th of a bench surface with a tool cabinet (plus the opening drawers in front). It's like having a micro-wave oven on the kitchen work surface. Looks good on a plan but you lose a quarter of space offered.

All my common tools, screwdrivers and spanners are on an open shelf, roughly in order, to one side and always readily available.

My opinion only, of course.

I'm not trying to find fault. It's just that I put my bench under the garage window (for maximum daylight) which opens inwards and if I want to open it..........

Sorry another thought. Cables in the middle of the bench are really a problem. Same reason as they take up working space. Too late to put a socket at either side maybe?

They are close (my old bench seems to have beena good 3" or so lower than this one, but at 6'2" this is spot on) but my longest plug with a longer than standard body that I use in the garage fits OK so no drama. I may move them up a bit when I get a chance and stick a couple of spurs either side for things like a radio etc.

I have finally succumbed to the inevitable and have moved the two double sockets up a few inches. This has made room for the new kitchen worktop I have bonded to the rather poxy 15mm plywood 'Big Dug' thinks passes as a heavy duty worktop. It is now! A nice 5" Vice is on the way and will be bolted to the bench on the right hand side. My roller tool box is now filled and I've even bought a labelling machine so I may actually be able to find my tools again...

Spent the weekend clearing out the garage as my wife decided she wanted 1/4 of the shelving for a pantry overflow. Something to do with the war in Ukraine has made my wife paranoid that she needs enough food, medicine and cleaning products in case war breaks out here

Anyway, 4 full car loads to the dump later and the garage is useable again. I can at least find my tools and walk around the bike, so all good. Hopefully if it’s warmer next weekend I can start getting lost in the lakes again

With four kids and my wife on a war footing, this is the emptiest I have managed to get my garage in years! I would like to through more out, as my bike needs more room, but I can at least see it now.

Had this built in 1988, probably before many of you were born. Only 2 main regrets 1) Should have made the roof higher and 2) the doors wider.

I don't need more space, just less space filled with stuff that might come in handy one day.
