Go for it.
I'd spend some money first though, get yourself signed up for one of the off road schools. You drop their bikes with no come back, you have no navigation hassles to worry about while the slippy stuff is still new and you know the advice is based on experience not a mate-of-the-brother-of-the-bloke-on-the-internet.
UK wise there is pretty much nothing like this. The remaining few green lanes it is legal to ride on are short and only passable to a Wee in the best conditions. They are crowded with bobblehatted know-it-alls and shotgun armed xenophobes. In Scandanavia, the Alps, Spain and Morocco there are tracks that suit a Wee with semi-knobblies perfectly. The tyres BTW are the key factor after the rider, I've ridden a Bonneville on tracks like the one in the Video, all you need is Heidenau K60's or similar.
