Can't believe no replies to this yet.
I have the SW Motech on mine. I find it to be heavy and  very good quality. It mounts sturdier than others I've seen.
There has been metion of vibration issues with some. The SW Motech do not have that issue.

I got the standard ones installed on my 2012. Can't say what the bike is like without them but I imagine a good bit lighter.

I think they are made by something kocher. Can't remember the name exactly , sorry...

I have swmotech too. The high side panel ones not the old model lower ones. I have the swmotech belly pan fitted too. Very well made and nice and heavy feel. Sturdy. The tubing on the bars themselves is thicker and wider than the givi ones I been told. I had no vibration issues from either. They did arrive with a few spots of paint missing but I covered that with a dab of black scratch repair. to be honest, I think whatever make you get, get the ones that cover up the fairing sides too, not just the engine. Also I must add the swmotech ones did not block or cover any panel screws but I believe the givi ones slightly hide one screw on the side panel. Finally the swmotech ones will fit a givi belly pan plate with an adaptor but I don't know if givi ones accept a swmotech pan
I'm sane, honestly. . . I got a certificate to prove it!

Nbsdave,Jimbo8098,Willbo,Jabmotorsport,

Thank you all for the input and advice. Sounds like you rate the SW Motech bars and I will get on and source some. I always used to buy them for my bikes when I first started and in fairness touch wood I have not made a habit of falling off the bike and certainly not at any pace. The only issues I have had have been at low speed on the Glee when a paving slab tipped up and unbalanced me on a hill and nearly caused my ankle to buckle and then on my K12 RS in Ypres, when again at low speed I was forced down a cobbled streets gutter by a wagon and it tippled me and the wife off with full luggage, again it was a bit like shouting timber and then it all sarted to happen incredible weight on my left leg keeping bike and pillion and luggage from slapping into cobbles, my wife managed to scramble off and helped me lay the bike down on its panniers, no damage done during either incident. Luckily I am a big built lad and I had a load of luck. My thinking is for any low speed tip off the bars certainly on the Glee may help greatly. I am not so sure they will help so much if there was any pace involved but I would stand being corrected.

Thanks very much

WM

The SW Motech ones are 27mm rather than the standard 22mm so a bit beefier  :thumb:  .. I didn't even torque them up .. just did them tight and they do not vibrate or anything :) .. brill

I'm out on this one. A question probably asked before " engine bars do they work". I understand why some people have them, those who have a slow off or mishap on uneven ground, but these days a bike is so easily written off are the bars really needed.

Bars are not only for the benefit of the bike. If you were to get hit side on surely the bars would tip the bike before your legs get totally crimped. Anyone been hit side on? Were the bars of any benefit?

The bars are to protect the bike. They will have little to no effect on the rider's body in a side hit by another vehicle. Bar's that stick way out like on some older cruisers sometimes provided a little protection and sometimes got bent back, trapping a leg against the bike and pinning the rider in place while the bike treated the rider like a cat would shake a mouse. That's why you don't see such wide spaced bars so much any more.

I have the Givi engine bars on my Glee, I bought them purely because I though they looked good and also provide somewhere to mount my spotlights.

Have done a good mix of riding since fitting them and not felt any vibration.

I got the Suzuki ones which look OK, but one has started to corrode around a weld despite being covered ACF-50. Can't say I'd recommend them due to poor finish.

I have Givi bars on mine. No vibration felt so far. The bars stick up around the fairing but are only a couple of inches away from the sides, so I doubt they will ever "save a leg" in a crash or side impact.

Those Motech bars look the dogs on the 2012 Model. I have seen some PUIG ones that look similar for under £100 so I am tempted. Anyone got the same fitted ?

Cheers
