Today I fitted the centre stand to the Glee [its a pain with the springs, but a ratchet strap helps]. :fix:

So I checked the oil and it seamed like it had gone [the glass is all white], the oil was there when I come back from my 1300 mile trip from buying the bike in the UK and its been stood at work in the snow for the last 4 weeks [it only just melted this week], anyway I digress, so the bike is on the centre stand and it looks like there is no oil. So I added some 1 litre, and no change - now after reading, I see the problem - this has never happened  on either bikes I have owned with an oil window [Honda, BMW]. Will take it for a 40 mile run tomorrow [after dropping the excess oil I put in] and let you know if there is any difference.

Thanks for reliving the worries [I though the glee had died just before the 3000 mile service].

One quick question - it is OK to check the oil on the centre stand ???

A centre stand check will result in a slightly fuller appearance because the window is at the front of the engine. A proper full level will appear as a minimal air space at the top of the circle.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

OK - Went for a 100km ride and there was little change in the window [bit worried - very - that the engine had screwed up] and came back, another 100km - now the window is nice with no milky oil  <!-- s:grin: --><!-- s:grin: -->

Now I have a very good reason [excuse] to tell the wife I need to go out for a few 100 km ride to fix the bike  <!-- s:lala: -->:lala:<!-- s:lala: -->

Thanks for all your help.
