Custom made gear indicator
« on: March 10, 2013, 10:58:08 »
I have fitted a custom made gear indicator to my V.
I searched the market for one but found most of them rubbish or massive.
This bloke in Greece made me one.
I was a bit of a guinea pig as he had only made them for the WEE.
The installation was fairly easy and it now works a treat. It looks like it should be there and not a bolt on...
let me know what you think..

His details are on the video.

That's great. How much did it cost in total? Is it the Greek chappie on eBay?

I have one of the ones that sits on the dashboard, but it is not very accurate. It takes a couple of seconds to show the correct gears sometimes.

They look good nikolas and thanks for the email reply so quick

Question, is it possible to have a double colour, I was thinking the green or red for daytime, then a blue for night time ?

It may be more hassle than its worth though, not sure

How much are the in gauge units and do you have a step by step procedure that I could look at please?

there is no option to have a display that changes colours..sorry..there is just option for basic colour which could be red/blue/orange/green for the in clock installation..

for the extereior installation there is only red/blue..
there is a video over here with step by step guide however, part of this proceedure has been altered and instead of using utp extension and installing the main unit under the seat, it is suggested to install the main unit behind the clocks..

however, there is even simplier installation without need of removing the rear side wing, by using a pair of connectors..however these are currently out of stock

edit here is an updated installation guide

The most interesting custom GI I've seen was mounted inside the stock instrument panel.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.

I know. I thought you might like the application and think maybe consider doing something like it.
