Water in the speedo................
« on: February 21, 2013, 09:46:51 »
Hi all, I have a 2012 650 (6100 miles) and it is miles better than my previous K9 but I have water in the speedo binnacle and the paint on the lower fork legs is becoming pitted and exposing the metal has anyone else experienced this?  I have raised a warranty case with Suzuki  :character-jaws: , waiting for a response  :flags-wavegreatbritain:

I've seen a couple of posts, not many, saying water got into the speedo. The fork leg problem sounds like you've been following cars on gravel roads. Are all the dings in front?
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.

Glad to see another case like mine going back to Suzuki. (Not glad it happening to you obviously  :) )

It's an odd phenomenon when it happens: it's like lines of water on the inside of the glass but only on the right side and never seems misty or damp apart from that. It appeared last time after going home in the wet from getting the glass replaced at a service due to it occuring from time to time. Didin't see it on Saturday when I was out in the dry.

Cupar are on the ball & Alan called me back earlier this week to update me.

Hmmm ... my glee has seen some rain but touch wood there's been no water in there.

I'm with you on the fork legs though. seems to me the paint is too thin so it looks a bit shiny if that makes sense

Cheers

Got an update again today: they want my bike back in to do some remedial work - looks like Suzuki have stepped up fairly quickly.  :thumb:

Don't have details of what's involved as I was still trying to defrost my brain when I was told.....

this water in the speedo was an issue on the Honda deauville 700 and some got recalled to replace the seals around the clocks.
my deauville had it a lttle. just a little fogging on the side, thankfully it was clear when the bike went into the dealer... feel sorry for the bloke who bought it from dealer... spoke to the bloke today when he picked it up after buying it yesturday. told him about all the serviceing I did to it but not the speedo. shame on me. lol

You're a bad man......

I think this is coming in the back as I've remembered that the connector at the back's to be checked for any corrosion.

First time today noticed weird wet lines on rhs of clocks ...look too glutinous for rain or water and haven't ridden in rain recently or washed bike ?
Occurred after sun on bike at work ...maybe condensing but no mist just gloopy lines ?

Did they sort out your glee Lifebiker ?  :angry-tappingfoot:

Mine's booked in on 23rd to get it seen to.

Sounds just like what I've had - lines across without any misting and always on right side.

Could it be glue melting and not water?

I have little white marks on my fork legs , I tried scrubbing with soapy water to get it off as it looks like salf but it just dosen't. I suspect it is the beginnings of the pitting problem but it is on the sides of the fork , not the front...

No water in my clocks.

Based on it appearing when it gets damp and then disappears in the garage I'd be very surprised if it was anything as substantial as glue.

Here's a photo of my clocks with same problem. I'm currently awaiting a reply from Suzuki via my dealer regarding replacement,

Mechanic said only thing missing were the goldfish (everyone's a comedian :) )

Just had word from dealer that Suzuki will honour claim and have already sent new dash for fitment.

Thought I would add to post in case anyone else has problems they can refer to this thread.
