TomTom Rider mounting?
« on: February 05, 2013, 15:02:49 »
Hi, I'm after some advice on mounting my TomTom rider Sat Nav please! On my old bike I had it mounted to the handle bar however on the V-Strom I'd love to make use of the bar by the windscreen seen in the photo. My current mount is made by Ram and features a ball and socket arrangement. Does anyone have any idea how I'd mount it on this bar? Any adapters available? Thanks.

Current Bikes: DL650 and GSX-R750

I don't know what that bar is, aftermarket for sure, have you considered a dash board shelf from Richland Rick. Highly recommended

Ricks shelf is a low one around the ignition switch. Strombone makes a GPS RAM ball mount for above the clocks.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

that's a Touratech mounting bracket - they sell a variety of different mounts might be worth a look.

I have the touratech mount, when I bought my Garmin there was a Ram bar mount in the box, with a small shim to insert into it so it would fit onto smaller diameter bars like cross braces or, indeed, Touratech mounts. that's what I used. These are standard Ram mount parts.

You'd just need the shim as you already have the handlebar mount...RAM P/N RAP-319U
