Replacement Brake Pads - Any Recommendations?
« on: February 02, 2013, 17:39:27 »
I was wondering if you all had a preferred manufacturer for replacement brake pads, or do most people just go with Suzuki original parts? I may be looking at a replacement set in the near future.

Interesting, I tried to find wee pads on the EBC site earlier today but couldn't see them listed.

I've Used HH front and rear and found the rear a little too snatchy.
HH up front was good, but I am a heavy braker and I got allot or disc wear
so I've gone back to GG front and rear.

Always EBC!  :thumb:

I am ashamed to show my ignorance of these things, but are HH and GG alternate part designations, both being manufactured by EBC, or are they an alternative brake pad manufacturer?

HH pads have a higher coefficient of friction than GG pads. I liked EBC sintered metal HH pads on the front for more power with less effort and organic GG pads on the back for less grabbiness and better feel on my '07 Wee.  The stock pads on my '12 Glee feel much the same as as the EBCs on my old Wee.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

As always greywolf, as clear an explanation as it could be. Thank you for the information.

I have been fitting Ferodo pads for the past 4 years, M&P are the main distributor.

Equivalent peformance to EBC in both sintered and organic, they are much better value.

OK so EBC pads seem the way to go with HH for the front and GG for the rear.  I can find HH easily enough but are GG also described as Organic or Kevlar-Organic, maybe some techno wizard can make it really easy for me and supply the EBC part number?

FA174 is the EBC part number for the rear pads I've used.

Greywolf to the rescue again.  Thank you.  That code checks out with what is advertised on Ebay as Organic and elswhere as Kevlar Organic.  So I now know what to get.

I had ferodo pads on mine for a while there should be a thread somewhere on here if you do a search. Bottom line was they didn't last very long and I wouldn't recommend them.
Now on a Super Tenere having put 64k miles on a 2011 DL650
