4K Service
« on: February 02, 2013, 15:46:05 »
After a little help and guide price.
How much have you paid for the 4K service on your bike, my local Suzuki stealer wanted £125 for the 600 mile service, I thought this was a little steep, so no doubt he will want my pants this time on the 4K service.  :GRR:

Is this a certain stealer in St Helens?

If so I got my 4k one done there for about £160 iirc.

I was at Bill Smith in Chester and they quoted me £203 for the 7.5k service.

I suppose I could cope with £160, over £200 is a little steep for what's involved.

yep the one named after a well nown Robbie Williams song  lol

My 4k service in August 2011 was £182 at Crescent Suzuki. You could save around £50 at an independant.
Now on a Super Tenere having put 64k miles on a 2011 DL650

would it have an affect on the warranty if the service is carried out at an independant garage and not an authorised Suzuki dealer, I would normally service the bike myself only for this.

Local Suzuki dealer Rock DJ lol  lol

I think the 7.5k service has more that needs doing hence the £200 mark.  I think the aforementioned St Helens dealer quoted me something over the £200 mark when I asked after my 4k service.

I got quoted 110 by one Suzuki dealer and 135 by another. Different grades of oil were being used and the dearer of the 2 also washed and polished her afterwards. Independent quoted about 90 quid. Depends what you're wanting to pay and whether you trust them to do a decent job. Id rather go with recommendations and pay a few pounds more.

Yep totally in continent  :fix: need my eyes fettling to.

Approx £160 for 4K service and over £200 for 7.5K service, service interval on these machines is crap. Suzuki need to get a grip, if this is meant to be a mile munching do anything touring  bike, they need to up their game to at least 6K  :angry-tappingfoot:

I've also wondered why the srvice intervals are short compared to other bikes like Honda's Transalp !

This is the first time in my 29th year of biking that I have ever purchased a bike brand new.  :violin:
all my other bikes had better service intervals than this,(to think I chopped in a BMW for this  lol )   I'm not to worried about the service intervals as such, more of the warranty, might as well start servicing it myself then   :fix: :groan:

The 4K service is the cost of an expensive stamp in the service book, as no OE parts are required. Why should I not service the bike myself, it only involves an oil change,
Air cleaner: check.
Exhaust nut and bolts: check
spark plugs: check
Fuel Line:check
Engine oil: replace
Throttle play: check
Radiator hose: check
Clutch cable play: check
Chain: check
Brakes: check
Fluid: check
Tyres: check
Chassis bolts: check

will have to make my service stamp out of the kids playdo  lol
