Glee Scottoiler fitment..
« on: January 29, 2013, 08:18:22 »
I'm going to fit me new Scottoiler before the weather starts to pick up and I bring the Glee out of hibernation. I was wondering where to tap into a vacuum, I would have though the take offs for the throttle balance feeds would be the best place but the Scottoiler site itself says it recommends siting it in a pipe that feeds some kind of vacuum feed ancillary, the MAP sensor, whatever that is..

Has anyone fitted one to a Glee yet? Where did you tap into a vacuum feed?

The bike at the top of the pic is of an old 650 but the title of the PDF states 2012 model-on so I have to assume the pic itself is correct..

Have a look at the piccies I linked to which confirm the position of the take-off in this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=24&t=8249&hilit=scottoiler

I attached the reservoir / metering valve onto the sub-frame on the left-hand side of the bike (as you sit on it) using the clamp that include onto a stud that was conveniently located. Not very easy to adjust the flow rate, but not too bad.

Thanks. The pics you link to show the same take off in my pic of Scottoilers own PDF above.. Is this where you connected your T piece take off? It looks easier to get to that the vacuum take offs for balancing and it's Scottoilers recommended take so it looks like a winner..

Did you have to remove any bodywork to get to that MAP sensor feed?

Did mine as per the picture. I'm sure I lifted the tank up to get easy access, which isn't too hard, especially as it has it's own little prop to keep it raised. But the prop works best if the bike is level.

I don't think I'll have a day to put aside to lift and replace the tank..

You don't have to remove the tank. Undo the 12mm bolt (rear of tank, under the seat) and a few of the fairing bolts/velcro and the tank will lift a few inches and prop up on its own stand.

It's all plastic and poppers though, there's a whole section in the handbook dedicated to lifting the tank, it looks a right PITA..

did mine on the K6 bike like in the pic.

as the frame and throttle system is basically the same I can't see a problem.

under the seat I find the best option. I don't want things anywhere near the rear wheel or the mrs feet.

No need to touch the tank if you have decent length fingers.  Just fit the vaccuum bit and slide the tube back towards the battery - peasy.  Oh, and don't lose the old nipple.

The thread is talking about fitting it to an L2.

Why do Scottoiler have two different installation manuals if it's the same?

Use the vacuum pipe like it shows on wee picture very easy to do you just cut the pipe and insert t piece then thread pipe through bike
I found it better to attach oil holder part to frame rather than under seat as its easier to get to and you can see when it wants refilling also less distance to run oil tube also takes too much room under seat
If you need a hand give me  a pm, I can send you photos of how its fitted to my glee if it helps

Thanks.. I had the cover off the bike and had a look for the MAP sensor today, I haven't got the tank off so view is restricted but I think I found the pipe in the pic coming out of the front throttle body and routing up to where the MAP sensor is, at least that's what it felt like when I followed the pipe with my fingers.. If that's the pipe then once the tank is lifted installation should be straight forward.. I too am mounting the reservoir on the frame, somewhere down near the battery so it can be checked for oil level without lifting the seat.. My last Scottoiler was mounted upright and I think this is best..
