How far do you lean (Take 2)

On a different subject to the ongoing thread.

How far does your bike lean on the sidestand? My Vee seems to lean much too far to the point where I'm considering lengthening the stand as I'm worried that it would fall over. In the garage it sits on a block of wood around an 1" thick but the lean angle is still excessive. Does anyone else suffer from this. DL1000 2005 with hardly any miles and not been abused as far as I know.

650 L2 ( glee) seems the same ..I park up on a hill with camber and that exaggerates  the excessive lean too ..considering blocking up foot of side stand , however too many tales on here of slipping of side stand ..so I park in gear but I am unsure if  increasing the length will affect general parking stability ...but will try .

My Vee didn't lean over average when it was std height. I lowered it 1", it now leans less, but still enough to not warrant shortening the side stand.

My K8 Vee does lean over a fair bit although I have noticed that the foot of the stand slips sideways by about two inches as it takes the weight of the bike. I do not know if this indicates wear in the pivot or if it is normal.  :shrug:  I only use the side stand for getting my fat old body on and off and then I heave it onto the centre stand.  

But then again I used to have a K9 1250 Bandit, its stand was so upright it would roll off the stand at any hint of a forward downslope. My 1961 Royal Enfield Bullet only had a side stand and the pivot bolt used to break every few months. I have never trusted side stands since.

In standard trim this shouldn't be a problem. Raising the ride height by changing the rear suspension dog bones could cause this. Also having the suspension pre-loads fully wound up may add to the problem. So check the pre-loads and adjust them if needed. Also check that the stand is correctly tightened and not excessively worn in it's bush making it move when the bike is lent on it.
