Bought a new one
« on: January 08, 2013, 18:17:17 »
Evening All,

I am returning to the forum, I've just put a deposit down on a brand new White Glee.  Got a good deal so couldn't resist.  Now I have a massive amount of questions.  Obviously I'll be searching too but know how helpful you lot usually are so here goes.

Which hot grips and where do I splice the loom?
Which engine bars?
What noisy pipe?
Barkbusters or oem hand guards?
Best screen for a 6ft 2 human who had nowt but buffer from my vee thou and ended up running the sport screen in low?

oh and are the trailwings still tyres of terror?

that's it for now, let the good advice begin!!

Great stuff, enjoy! I am just coming to the end of my Trailwings and I really don't have much confidence in them, though they're not too bad in the dry especially if it's warm..
No bike at present.......

I did 5k on the last ones I had before fitting (the great) road attacks.  They weren't bad really, especially compared to the dunlops that came on my old SV650

Hi,
I'm 6ft4 and the Givi Airflow is the dogs nuts.
Avoid the genuine Suzuki crash bars (They can resonate at 4800rpm,in every gear,if your one of the unlucky ones!) Means cruising at 70mph is unbearable , I am however trying to resolve with rubber spacers.Go for SW bars.
Also consider Richland Ricks peg lowering kit if you have longer than average legs. They also work well reducing knee ache.
Dr.Bike heated grips for 35 Quid are as hot as you like wired directly into the bikes heated grip supply (behind radiator fan) via an eastern beaver wiring adaptor.

No I must remain Jackie_black so darren knows what bike he will be servicing next, and if I start moaning about suspension knows there will be emulators that require fitting.

So far I have unearthed some Acerbis handguards that you can light up (more visibility is good!!), Full arrow exhaust system,  SV Racing parts do an akrapovic, PCV and K&N for it and then I found the motech site!

There is a lot of bling for this bike already!

Do eastern beaver kits generally make it through UK customs without crazy charges?

Yes, the taxes and postal charges do add up - put me off anyway. Sometimes it's worth while getting a collective buy sorted out...there was one for heated grip cables a while ago, IIRC...

btw +1 for Dr Bike heated grips.

If you are just after the heated grip connector - I have a spare kicking around somewhere. I popped it into an envelope ready to post to someone on here a year or so ago, but never heard anything back?!?!

I have a secondary fuse box fitted, so if you want it, let me know and I will do my best to dig it out (god knows where it is, so may take me a week or so - just let me know early!!)

I work up in Cramlington, so a handover may be possible (perhaps a cuppa if the kettle is on  :thumb: )

Welcome back too, hope to see you on some of the oop norf rideabouts!!

Excellent!  I would love the heated grip connector,  may eventually go down the secondary fuse box route again, but will start out small!

Suzuki use Sumitumo connectors so these blokes have most things:

Well after an evening of research I will be going for, in no particular order

SW Engine bars
SW Centre stand
Suzuki lower cowl thingy
Suzuki Hand guards
Daytona hot grips
Eastern beaver fuse board thingy (eventually)
Tall Vario touring screen (I'm 6ft 2)
Akra or arrow can/system (when funds permit)
Luggage of some description

How does that sound?

It will be over a long period of time as I plan to keep this one for ages!!  I should never have got rid of the last one (Vee), after I sorted the 4k flatspot added superbike brakes and generally threw the kitchen sink at it.

Dealer rang me today, even though I've done the deal and got the bike well cheap they have decided to throw in £300 worth of accessories, so I've selected a centre stand, tank protector and hand guards.  Woo.

Can't you get the full £800 that Suzuki are now advertising? Push back if I was you!
