All Year Biker
« on: December 16, 2012, 16:27:50 »
Hello Chums,
I have just had it done this morning. I must say that I was very impressed at the meticulous cleaning beforehand. This was followed by being dried off, and then the ACF50 was applied using a special spray gun. It all took about about two hours. Then I got the bike done as well, tee hee :)

I won't be able to say if it works until the spring of course, but I feel that it was £60 well spent. Big Suze has never been so clean! The ACF50 was applied all over (minus the brakes of course) even over the plastics and, much to my surprise, the clocks.

Apparently, I don't need to clean my bike until March now!

Did you protect electrical connections too? It's often forgotten.

Everything except the brakes sounds like an external application to me. Taking the tank and plastics off to do the wiring harness is a whole different level. There was a winter rider on Stromtrooper that had to have his wiring harness replaced because it was so corroded.

oh, I see what you mean. The tank stayed on. Mind you, he was so thorough with the application spray gun that I could quite  believe that it reached the parts under the tank that other treatments don't reach. I mean it put  out quite an all enveloping mist of ACF50. I would be surprised if the it didn't get well inside the nooks and crannies.

I wonder if that's why my heated grip cables kept snapping...

The applicator my bloke used had a long thin nozzle and although he did the job under a shroud (so I didn't see) he said he could  and would get the ACF 50 everywhere

Under a shroud? Sounds like some sort of magic trick!

He just put my wheels under shrouds whilst he blasted the bike with the stuff. Later on, he de-cloaked the wheels and applied it to them using a cloth soaked in it so as to avoid getting it on the disks and pads.

What you say makes sense, I must say. well anyway, there was no wind and my chap has been doing it fro three years so I can only hope it is going to be okay.

I still can't believe how clean he made it! It's filthy again now as I felt compelled to go for a ride afterwards.

I would agree with you Jab if you had all the equipment,, otherwise no way can you do the job they do. I mean,, for instance,  do you have an industrial dryer ??

No I don't and to be honest I forget to mention I do mine every couple of weeks anyway. I suppose the dryer bakes the spray to make it last longer, clever really :) .. might try it with the girlfriends hair dryer hahaa :)

its the other way round,,  the bike is thoroughly dried after washing and is left warm, this has the effect of allowing the ACF 50 to creep into all the nooks and crannies ....

BTW I have no finacial incentive to big them up

Its just my experience of them

When he says won't need cleaning until March... should it be All Year Biker'd again in March, or just a clean yourself? I thought the point of All Year Biker was to protect it against the winter salt... ?

if you only rinse the bike in cold water it will last all year, if you jet wash, hot wash and or use detergent then you will remove the ACF50..

The wash in March is to remove the ACF50 and have a shiny bike for the summer then allyearbiker it again for the following winter.

If you are not bothered about being ultra shinybut do want longivity then leave it in place
