clutch lever switch
« on: September 15, 2012, 21:05:08 »
Hi there

If the switch is faulty is it possible to bridge across the 2 female spade connectors to start the  bike while a new one is ordered?

 Many  thanks
 :)

It's just a two-pole push switch, so yes... bridging the two connectors should work just fine!

EDIT: Though I've no idea what the bike will do with the circuit connected the entire time while riding! Should be fine, but to me that's uncharted territory!

That's fine except for 2007(K7) and later 650s which use the clutch lever switch as part of the info sent to the ECM. Earlier 650s and all 1000s so far are okay with bypassing the switch.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

I've written that one down just in case I ever have a problem with that switch! Good to know, thanks!  :thumb:
