DL650 braided hoses
« on: August 19, 2012, 16:33:34 »
Hi all I'm looking at buying braided hoses for my DL650 2010, most listings say 2004/2008 , are they the same fitment as my year, its a non abs model, I read somewhere that in 2007 the swing arm length was increase by just under an inch.

can't find any info for 2010 dl hoses, any help would be much appricated.

Give 'Hel' UK a call, their braided hoses/lines are superb, very helpful.

I've a rear one on my DL1000, quality braking!!

Try Earl's too, I had all my brake lines custom made by them for a very reasonable price. The service was good too, friendly and helpful. There should a thread on here somewhere where I posted about my brake upgrades and I put the measurements and specs needed for hoses in there if you need them, just do a search.

Also Venhill , probably the oldest manufacturer of braided hoses . Paid just under £70 for the front and rears . Whatever brand you go for , it mades a big improvement .

Whilst your replacing your brake lines, up-grade your brake pads to the likes of EBC double H sintered, I've been using them for under ten years on all bikes I've owned, great braking bite..!

It totally inspires confidence.

+1 for EBC HH, but only on the front, put some normal EBC pads on the rear. I find that the HH is too grabby at low speed on the rear brake and at low speed is where you're most likely to use the rear with precision. I can easily lock up the rear and I think this is a bit dangerous (but I might just think this because I high sided after locking the rear twice in one breaking maneuver.) The rear disk is also made from "softer" steel than the front ones and wears quicker with HH pads than the standard pads (I think standards are GG? Anyone?)

Yeah standard are gg. I've used hh front for a while. They have scored the discs over time. Bikes done 35k nearly. So replacments needed soon. Will go back to gg then. Hh felt better but pads are cheap, discs are not.

Have CBR600 brakes on my Wee with EBC HH pads and EBC disks. No troubles with scoring, but I'm not a heavy braker either, engine braking FTW :)

We use EBC sintered pads on all 5 of our bikes I keep at home. I was riding my XT for a year with those pads and they were definitely superior to the standard ones the last bloke had on. They weren't EBC but can't remember what type they were. I got them off wemoto.com.

So, does anyone now know if there is a length difference in brake lines between DL650 2002-2006 and later models? Mine is '09
Thanks
