Ignition barrel problem
« on: July 11, 2012, 07:07:09 »
Is this a rare problem or something well known

I cannot get the Ign barrel into the park position, All other positions are fine, just won't go into that last position.

off on and lock no problem JUST the park that's the problem

WD 40, much wiggling and pushing and it won't go in.

Anyone had this issue?

Thanks

Al.

Sounds like a battery protecting bonus to me.

But yes, it can be a problem.  I've found WD40 loosens it up but then it'll need a proper carbon powder lock lube or ACF50 squirted in there to keep it moving.  I've become away with copper spray, not sure if that's really a good idea though.

Thanks for that,

I had never heard of a powder lock lube. Loads on ebay, I will obtain. Right about the battery thing though but I like stuff to work if its there.

Cheers

Fair enough, it's unlikely to get better and more likely to go the other way....

Mine was almost immovable a few weeks ago, but stupid amounts of copper spray sorted it.  Seems to happen about twice a year, but then my bike is out 365 days.

I gave my lock a blast of chain lube and it was transformed, never gave a bit of bother after that.
It's pronounced 'twenty-one-twelve'

Thanks to you both

I gave it a blast with the chain oil, now it works like a new one. Lives inside all the time as well so should stay that way
