Yep, pretty grim. We've called a MIMP at work (Major Incident Management Plan) due to the forecasted appaling weather and the likely disruption to electricity supplies. Could be a busy weekend...

P.S. I'm supposed to be watching England thrash Australia at Chester-le-Street on Saturday, most unlikely  :rain:

I have ridden for the past two months in the rain, only had two dry weeks in that time and 7 days of sunshine

Australia will thrash the poms
Keep an open mind, but not so open your brains fall out

Got caught in one of these torrential downpours for 30 min with wifey on the back (first trip on a bike for 14 months)

But she STILL said she LOVED IT  :lala:

grrr.  I'm NOT going to be riding Davina this winter.  Salt + DUCATI

I'll need something (I'm thinking a cage actually)

You are right doboy, I've been following the shenanigans of the jetstream for a few years now, especially the part that affects these islands and that land over there, wossit called? oh, europe! Got me right into metereology it did, so that I started talking on about 'Hadley cells' and 'katabatic winds' in the pub and losing friends  . I even got a proper electronic weather-station to put on top of the shed, started collecting rainfall, wind-speeds etc :shy: to go with my more traditional dried fir-cones and dangling sea-weed prediction indicators.

But the jetstream (only discovered in the 20th c) is a sod this year...

It was a pretty good one wasn't it. Don't know anything about jet streams other than the return flight is a little quicker. Mind you, were some fun winds this winter.

Meanwhile, nothing has time to dry, my helmet absolutely wreaks of damp and the gortex in my 5 year old gloves doesn't even pretend to work any more. Still, better than commuting in a cage.
If at first you don't succeed, try a bigger hammer.
