And why does nobody post up in this thread anymore?
On a purely personal note I have decided that I can't contribute to this thread as I don't consider myself old. A moaning git yes, old no.

Despite the fact that I have no hair on the top of my head, my eyebrows have gone completely out of control and there is more hair sprouting from my nostrils and ears than anywhere else on my body, I am not old.

It has been pointed out to me that I have very few teeth, well neither do babies or toddlers and they are not old. This also applies about not quite making it to the loo in time.

I have become so convinced that I am not not old that I have returned this year's winter heating allowance to Mr Cameron and told him to give it to someone really old like Cliff Richard.

I am sure there are some other reasons but I can't remember them and know that's not because of the onset of senility, lots of really clever young people are absent minded.

lol  lol  :thumb:

Better not tell the insurers you're just a kid!

Just a thought..what actually is a 'git' ?    Is it as strong as being a tw&t? Or worse than a pillock? I don't suppose it matters, I suspect I am one anyway. :lala:

Twat is definitely more offensive that git. Pillock is gentler and just implies daftness without the meaness of spirit you would expect to find in a git like me.

Insults and swearwords are one of the more refined parts of our wonderful language, there are very few of us who don't enjoy them - and they are all gits. :old:

I've just had a lovely phone conversation with "Samuel" from "Lancashire" about Solar Panel for my roof. http://egbg.home.xs4all.nl/counterscript.html is a lovely tool, If I get to the last question it is always with a smile on my face.  We got cut off in mid question, Samuel called me back; as he did when I'd hung up having got to the end of my questions.

One of my other ploys is to either answer each question alternatively yes/no or just to be a candle using cave dweller that doesn't pay any bills (with a very large loan that I shall not be paying back).

Not much moaning here, but the wife tells me I qualify as an old git.

"Hello, is that Mr Frez"
Sounding retarded: "I am Bob"
"Hello Bob, and are you the house owner"
"I am Bob"
"Yes, I heard your name is Bob, but are you the house owner"
"I am Bob"
They usually hang up at this point.
Now on a Super Tenere having put 64k miles on a 2011 DL650

I don't know about there, but over here, twat means lady part.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

It's the same here, but it is the more polite version of calling someone a c**t, like 'you stupid twat' instead of 'you stupid c**t'

Hmm, well I googled 'etymology of git' and went to Wikipedia, an extract:

"Etymology 1

From Middle English get (“offspring", especially "illegitimate offspring”). A southern variant of Scots get (“illegitimate child, brat”), related to beget. (from Online Etymology Dictionary)

 Noun

git (plural gits)
1.(UK, slang, pejorative) A contemptible person.
2.(UK, slang, pejorative) A silly, incompetent, stupid, annoying or childish person. ?[quotations ?]

Usage notes
'Git' is usually used as an insult, more severe than twit but less severe than a true profanity like wanker or arsehole, and may often be used affectionately between friends. 'Get' can also be used, with a subtle change of meaning. 'You cheeky get!' is slightly less harsh than 'You cheeky git!'.
'Git' is frequently used in conjunction with another word to achieve a more specific meaning. For instance a "smarmy git" refers to a person of a slimy, ingratiating disposition; a "jammy git" would be a person with undeserved luck. The phrase "grumpy old git", denoting a cantankerous old man, is used with particular frequency. In parts of northern England, Northern Ireland and Scotland, 'get' is still used in preference to 'git'.
The word has been ruled by the Speaker of the House of Commons to be unparliamentary language

(I really like that last bit!)

I must admit, I use the word 'get' as in 'spawny get' (ie: incredibly lucky bastard) more than 'git' - didn't realise it was a scottish word in origin

I've also always thought it more like the bit I've coloured in blue, not so much the 'contemptible' bit, or 'stupid' connotation...

Ah well, learn something new everyday, eh?!

Friggin idiotic morons who brake and slow down in the outside lane of a 4 lane dual carriage way when a bus or truck stops. The outside lane is for you to carry on normal, you moron. If you are afraid of big vehicles get the eff off the road  ###

Morons who do 15-20 mph at 7 in the morning in an empty road because they still have not woken up. Get some coffee in you and drive properly  ###

Line them up against the wall and  :violence-uzi:

Saw a nice bit of speed limiter racing this morning. Truck comes on at one junction, straight into lane 2 and ten seconds behind another truck. Eight miles later he's cab to cab with the truck that's got it's speed limter set 0.000001 mpd slower. He then has to brake to cut back into lane 1 behind and come off at the next junction!  Kings of the road my ****.

I have said many times that a solution to congestion and a smooth flow on motorways is to keep HGV's in the left hand lane !!!!!  maybe allow a two mile exclusion zone every now and again ...

I've only been doing motorways for about 5 months now but generally if the traffic thickens up, it's because there's a lorry in the 2nd lane.

My personal peeve: when the Lane 3 Owner's Club are out in force. I feel like I should be driving a hearse, the amount of undertaking I have to do.

Also, what's with cars barrelling up behind you in lane 3, so after you're done overtaking, you nip back into 2, only for the car to sit in lane 3 (usually in your blindspot). You wanted me to move, so overtake and get out of my bloody way!

The country is NOT coming to a standstill. Some very lazy journos and teachers have come to a standstill - just like they do at every opportunity. All the rest of us have to live in the real world.
