Rear Brake Pads
« on: June 03, 2012, 14:43:04 »
Hi all,

The last couple of weeks I had noticed that the rear brakes were binding. A check revealed, as I expected, worn pads.

On Saturday I changed the pads and noticed that the wear on the left pad was passed the wear line but the other was hardly worn.

Anyone else experienced this before?

That is an indication the caliper is sticking on the sliding pins. Clean the pins and the holes in the caliper they slide in and lubricate them with high temperature brake grease.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

Hi,

In anticipation, I have cleaned and lubed all moving parts. So far all working well.
