vee cutting out
« on: May 26, 2012, 21:08:57 »
Was just wondering.
I've got a k7 vee, every now and then as I'm slowing down coming to a stop at a junction or the likes. It gives a little pop and stalls. Starts again straight away just a bit of a bummer cos you never know when its going to happen.
Any one got any ideas??

Have you checked the idle speed?  I had this issue when my k7 vee was really hot - when I checked the idle was c100rpm too low.  That sorted the problem.

not really got the cash to go the ecu route, was thinking about running it on the higher octane petrol see if that makes a difference

My wee does it now and again. Mostly when I've been pushing her hard and am eager to go at the lights. I said usualy.... I'll manage to do it once in 3-4 months.
Did do the same thing with the old git's Honda Deauville the other week, so I'd agree its a v twin thing.

+1 on setting the idle a tad higher if it's low. If you can find a place/someone with a Yoshi box you can get the ECU tuned without having to buy a Power Commander.

1100-1300rpm is the specified range for a Vee.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

Whatever happens get it seen to, fast!
A local biker was killed recently coz he went to turn right in front of a speeding oncoming can, his bike cut out and he was deceased!

Don't waste time get it sorted.  :thumb:

Thanks for that every one, looks like I'll up the idle a bit.
Now my next question. Where abt is the screw? this is my 1st injection I've only had carb's
So instead of spending a hour or so prodding and poking on my hands and knees in the shed I would be obliged if someone could point me in the right direction.
Thanks chaps
