intermittant problem garages got no clue

Hi I own a DL650 V Strom 05 with 16000 miles, in the last week I've had the same problem at the same part of my journey, after being on a motorway for about a hour I notice that the bike is not running very smoothly, and when I pull the clutch in the revs drops and the engine cuts out. If I turn the ignition off for a breath second the bike starts as it should do and runs perfectly? this has happened to me twice now and all garages have not been able to help or seem interested in having a look can any one help?

I had a similar problem on my cbr600, turned out to be the fuel pump. When the tank was full there was enough gravity feed to run the engine, but as the tank got low on fuel and the fuel pump was working intermittently it would cut out. I ended up replacing the fuel pump.

I'm not sure what the fuel pump is like on this bike, but if you put your hand on the cbr one you could feel it pulsing.

Be very careful if you decide to take it apart to clean it as the electrical contacts can arc if you run it without the cover on, and electrical arcs plus fuel vapours are not a good mix.

The symptoms sound like some sort of fuel issue anyway.
Now on a Super Tenere having put 64k miles on a 2011 DL650

Fuel pump issues are more likely to surface at high revs with a greater demand. If the only problem was dying at idle, the idle speed could be set too low. It should be set around 1300rpm. The poor running after riding for a while and the dying at idle plus being okay after a restart makes me think you need a throttle position sensor adjustment or a new TPS. http://www.vstrom.info/Smf/index.php/to ... 4.120.html is on target and you'll notice the TPS wasn't identified as a problem until page 5.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s
