DL650 Steering Bearings
« on: April 03, 2012, 11:53:52 »
Does anyone know the measurements for these bearings? The parts Fische only shows "30x5" in the description. I'm replacing the standard ball bearings with some tapered roller bearings.

Found the info by calling someone that was selling a kit online. The bearings are 30mm inside diametre, 55mm outside diametre. Height doesn't matter that much, but it seems the standard height for those ID and OD measurements is 17mm. Both the top and bottom bearings are the same and they are the same on the Wee and Vee. I got some Koyo bearings off eBay for £23 for a pair. There are cheaper bearings, but I trust Koyo bearings and I don't want to need to ever think about the steering bearings again after replacing them this time (once is enough :))

32006 is the industry standard number for the proper size tapered roller bearings. http://blacklabadventures.com/2012/02/2 ... t-upgrade/ is a good how-to article.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s
