Chain and sprocket advice needed
« on: April 01, 2012, 18:57:03 »
I need to chain the chain and sprockets on my bike after almost 20,000 miles.  The problem is with what!  I've spotted two sets on Ebay, I think they are both the same grade and quality, but quite different price, could anyone offer any advice?

They are:

and
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/220888987915? ... 454wt_1108

I think it might just be one's gold and hence cost more?

Help  :)

Both of those look real cheap, I need to get one when I come over.

For comparison, down here I would be paying GBP290 so I would not quibble about a few quid here and there

Those chains will be endless and you would need to remove the swingarm to install it or break the chain, obviously the last is easier
Keep an open mind, but not so open your brains fall out

Either of these should be fine. Also suggest you have a look at this- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/260990659813?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649. The X ring chains aren't any stronger, they just use sealing rings with an X profile rather than the O profile rings in other chains. The X rings have four contact points and keep the internal grease in better and should last longer.  Just avoid the unbranded chains and make sure they supply a rivet type link and not a spring one.
