Fitted one of those Aoocci Android Auto thingies to the Strom. Sadly, Aoocci don't think I'm a big enough motovlogger to send me a free one to review, so I had to buy my own! Got fed up with swapping the Tom Tom over from bike to bike so I thought it seemed like a sensible option. I went for the cheaper C3 version as I'm not bothered about the cameras on the more expensive versions (although the tyre pressure monitors would have been nice). I had hoped that I'd be able to fit it to a Ram mount in the place where the Tom Tom lived but I didn't realise that you have to buy the metal bracket model to get the Ram mount fitting, so I had to resort to mounting it on the bars - not my preferred choice.
There are no fitting instructions in the box but it's pretty intuitive. Once paired up it seems to be very good. Boot up is fast and connects to my phone very quickly. Screen seems very clear but yet to test it out on the road - job for tomorrow.
Delivery from China took 8 days and came very well packed, cost about £76.
I'll let you know how it performs.

Today saw a ride to Liverpool and back (repeat run due tomorrow). Heavy fog over the M62 but cleared at Manchester and a bit of rain on the way home but not too bad.
Saw the ODO reach 066666 miles just as I arrived to L'pool.
Got reminded about idiot drivers on the way home when in heavy traffic the BMW behind me (who I think wanted to be a pillion) decided to undertake and cut back in to the gap I'd left from the car in front then anchor on the brakes, all to make up a V-Strom length on the road   Only positive was at least they were in front so I could give them more space to keep out of harms way.

Okay,  the verdict on the Aoocci C3 thingie - went out for a ride today and it performed perfectly. Google maps and TomTom Amigo both worked well with a readable screen, even in bright sun and clear voice guidance. At one point I lost phone signal so the Amigo app went blank. Switching to Google maps got the map back.
I only wanted the unit for navigation and phone and both worked well. I'm impressed with a unit costing only £76. I won't be replacing my Tom Tom Rider when it finally gives up the ghost.

Froggie,
First of all, let me explain something....I'm pretty dumb, an IT imbecile, if you're still wondering, I'm stupid.
But, this Aoocci thingymabob, is it mirroring your phone? Are you running a maps package on your mobile and this comes up on the screen. I'm guessing so, because of when you lost the App.
Enquiring idiots want to know.
I presently run a Garmin XT which I'm happy with, it's only tried to kill me once.

Upt- you're not as stupid as you think. It does indeed mirror what is on your phone. Uses either Apple Car Play or Android Auto depending on your phone. It means you can use your phone for navigation, calls, etc while it is somewhere safe (in your pocket) instead of on your bike on a Quadlock or similar.

Ta me duck, although I'm pretty confident I'm as stupid as I think I am.
I prove it on a regular basis and so it is decreed.

Woke my sleeping girl up from her slumber. Tyre pressures, light checks, oil and water check all good then she starts first time.  :lala:. Let her run to warm up for 5 mins.  :auto-dirtbike:
Might go out Thursday as the weather is good, looking forward to the weather getting better. :sunny:

After fitting my Thunderbox last week, I decided to get an Ultimateaddons power socket to fit next to my satnav.

I wanted to make sure I wasn’t placing too much load on the charging system so got one with a voltage reading.

With my Dashcam and satnav on, and, my phone and battery pack on charge,  the voltage was between 14.3 and 14.7v on tick over.

I can now charge stuff in my handle bar bag as the unit has both a C and USB socket. I’ve angled it down slightly so I can keep my satnav central on the bar, in landscape, whilst my leads are plugged into the sockets.

Trying out a screen deflector as I’m not in love with my Puig screen. It works great and is great quality, I just don’t like the random fangs at the bottom of the screen, original looks better. I couldn’t get the original to prevent buffeting, no matter what height, so going to try this very cheap deflector, if it works well, happy days and if not then I’ve only wasted £11.59. When the weather improves I will try it out.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/176665689717?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=-fx6sbnitia&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=gcSUy7XcTAS&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

The clear plastic isn’t Puig or MRA quality, but then it’s far cheaper. The tilt mechanism is a direct copy of the MRA system and is surprisingly nice quality, works as well as the MRA system. Worth a try if anyone is having buffeting issues without breaking the bank.

I’m lucky with the screen on my 1050XT.

I’ve got the low seat which puts me lower down behind it. With the standard screen on its highest setting I can happily ride all day with my visor up. I can even ride on the motorway without too much bother.

Good find Mr G. I think I paid IRO 10 times that much for one.

It appears a good find and I think it will work well, worth a go I thought.

Out of curiosity, how do you find the low seat? I was tempted but I heard it was wasn’t comfortable, as even less padding than the standard seat, which makes a plank of wood look inviting. I would like a low seat as I’m a short arse, just want comfort too… let me know your thoughts please. Thank you.

I bought on those Aoochie things so as to have a front and rear camera on one of my bikes. However I have not yet fitted it and I have no idea how to get google maps on my phone or how to link it to the Aoochie. As for other mapping apps  I dare say a few hours on Youtube might help. I often feel that my relationship with a smartphone is more like a having a book with the first chapter missing.   :old:
