Removed the original headset bearings and replaced with taper rollers. Can you tell which was the bottom one, dry as a bone and seized solid. Took about 5 hours in total, of which 2 hours plus was removing the bottom race off the steerer tube. Tensioned up using a spring scale and the bike feels much better now. No deceleration wobble and the front feels connected to the back with no rattles or brake judder. Did find a loose rear wheel bearing in the process though so done, done and on to the next one.

I got my wife to drive me to work today firstly to see my workmates who I haven’t seen since I had my accident in march, and also to start the my bikes up I have stored there, I managed to get to where they are on my walking frame my wife uncovered both bikes and unplugged both optimisers for me, both bikes where last run in November.the v-Strom started straight away😃    And the Triumph started after a few turns of the starter and run nicely 😃
Then my work mate noticed a puddle under the v-Strom he got some cardboard to put under it then gave it to me to smell and it was Petrol so I turned the bike off and the petrol stopped running, I did ring my mechanic friend who said the fuel wouldn’t run out while the bike is not running, so until I am able to get back on the bikes I will leave it as is until I can take it to get fixed.
Incidentally I also started my other to bikes up yesterday that I have at home both started straight away😃    I cannot wait to be able to walk again unaided and get back on the bikes 🤞

Good to hear that you're making progress with the recovery Albi & that you're able to get those bikes fired up.
I think a petrol leak on the 1000 has been reported a few times on here & if I remember correctly one of the causes was the small link pipe between the throttle bodies?
If you do a search for petrol leak you'll find a bit of reading material that might point you in the right direction.

@ graingerblaze thank you yes it was great to start them up again 😃 and I am sure I will be able to ride them again🤞

@ Barbel Mick thank you I will do a search, as it’s been standing for 10 months I am not surprised this has happened, what I was worried about was if it kept on leaking after turning the bike off as it is brimmed fuel of premium fuel  lol lol

Good news on your recovery, less good news on the fuel leak.

If it is the same issue as a few of us have had with Vees at a certain age then it's the fuel delivery pipe shown in green below, the red clamps are crimp type and so can't be tightened. After a lot of years (mine failed 2 years ago but fortunately in my 6 month warranty period from the dealer) they fail to seal the short pipe against the fuel pressure and weap (or gush) on start up. They often then seal again after a few minutes but they only get worse sadly. You can see this assembly (just) if you look up from below on either side, best done lying down so maybe recruit an assistant.
It's a pricey part, although others have just replaced the piece of pipe and put injector grade band clammps on, and a lot of tear down to get in there so fingers crossed it's something simpler like the fuel hose directly off the tank pump. Best of luck with it, hope it's back on the road soon with you riding it.

Albi , you'll soon be sat astride your bikes again , best wishes to you  :thumb:

As for the leak ..
As said,  your fuel should stay put if you don't run your bike.
I think Rixington is on the money ...  :thumb:

@ Rixington43  Thank you that is great and that makes so much sense as soon as I am able I will get it sorted :thumb:

@ kwackboy thank you I am doing all the exercises every day and hydrotherapy twice a week so hopefully getting there 🤞
The KTM & the V-Strom are high so it might have to be the B-King or the Triumph I try first  lol

Keep on keeping on even though it's little steps (no pun intended) at a time.
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

Replaced the knackered wheel bearing, easy enough job with the home made bearing driver. Will do all 5 when I have more time but the others felt lovely so not in a hurry.

Refitted new bar weights. A bit of a hassle  when one fell off some time ago. Fitted chinese copies which were pants, so had to buy handguard set as spacers not sold separately. Also new lh mirror in Aprillia style which fits the Suzuki mount.

Hauled arse up to Blackpool on Friday morning to take my nephew on the Roller Coasters, quick blast around Settle and Malham yesterday and then back home via Lythe Fell, Kirkby Stephen and Buttertubs today. Saw 2 classic Gen 1s over the fells, great day for riding some new and some more familiar roads.

We passed you like ships in the night. Except faster. And without the water. And it was daylight. A grey KTM 1190, an orange 1090 and an Africa Twin.

If only there was some sort of electronic medium where like-minded people could communicate their intended weekend whereabouts......

Put 10 litres of petrol in (£18+ - it wasn't that long ago, that would have filled the tank :bawl:)  with both fuel gauges flashing on 240 miles  since last fill up.
Spent an hour and a half pooling around during which I got stuck behind two tractors, had a driver pull out on me at a junction. Still, bike performed well, though it seems to be hunting at 28 mph in 3rd, but fine at 40mph in 6th? (Maybe it always did that and I'm just unused to the bike's character having been off it mostly since Feb 2020.)
The Cardo Freecom4X is proving to be good. It's nice to be able to ask the headset to turn music on/off, volume up/down rather than fumble for buttons.

Was that our morning or our afternoon visit?
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.
