Good effort  :thumb: it's worth covering those connectors under the airbox with some innertube to help keep the water out, esp if you ride all year.
Re: OCD, I'm going to endeavour to keep the bike cleaner from now on. Hopefully easier given I've not used it for commuting since Feb 2020, so it's hardly been used.

@stonec0ld, hammerite satin black might be a good match if your crashbars are black. I was told to use that for stuffs by the powdercoater that did mine.

Fitted this doo-hicky. Bought from AliExpress for a fraction under £11 delivered.  Might be a case of you get what you pay for, but time will tell.

Fitted a few bits! Luggage from Bumot gets a serious thumbs up!

A few further bits to add, Denali spots & replace those god awful OEM handguards & all will be well

Started doing some "deep" cleaning. Some nasty gunk under the petrol cap. Next up is the rear including all the nooks and crannies of the top case and inside the tail piece.

Considering that I might get a newer DL650 model or even one of the big boy V-Stroms in a couple years some might call this sort of cleaning a waste of time... but the process is just so relaxing and leaves me with a snug feeling knowing that the thing I spent ~10 salaries on is all nice and clean.

Nothing wrong with a bit of OCD, quite often it means you find an potential problem before it becomes an issue

My bike is worth nothing (2005) but I keep it in mint condition because to me it’s worth much more. I could buy new but I like keeping the old bike going, if it ain’t broke  :)

220 miles from Sheffield, up to Wetwang for fish and chips then over to Skipsea for excellent ice cream at Mr Moos and finally home via the Humber Bridge.

Likewise, except mine's 2004 so I keep that Silver Frame lovely and shiny.

Took it to SSR Suspension (https://www.ssr-suspension.uk/) in Telford to have this bad boy fitted.  :thumb:
Only 50 odd miles home but it already feels much better. Deb thinks so too.....and that's a big plus. :)

Commuted to work on the Strom for the first time today. Have to admit, not quite my cup of tea, but that's probably because the public transport connection from home to work is superb. Would enjoy it more if the workplace was farther away.

And in the evening more cleaning! Oh boy!

I finished the last piece of maintenance on the Strom today and fixed the wobbly gear lever. It was highlighted on the MOT back in April and I'd previously bought a replacement lever which looked better than the old but still wobbled.

Earlier in the week I finally bought the gear lever pivot from Fowlers for £21 delivered. The new pivot comes with green threadlock on it and although I knew it wouldn't, I gave it a quick go to try and remove it but that wasn't happening. So, I removed the footpeg mount from the frame. Next came heating the lever pivot with a blowtorch to break the threadlock. Re-attached to the bike and the pivot mount unbolts as though it's covered in copper grease. Quick blast with cleaner, new pivot installed (40nm for anyone looking for this) and reassembled with a good dollop of waterproof grease. No more wobbly lever  :fix:

Greasing this and the pegs etc is going on the annual checklist (although judging by this year's mileage I probably won't need to do anything for the next 3 years  :shy: )

Have some pics and a couple of vids:

Yes, they seem to wear like buggery. Loads of gobble on my glee after only 8 years & 24000 miles. And I had cleaned & greased it.

Another day tinkering.. Fitted the Oxford Nightrider led turn signals, bit of a fiddly job but it's done. And also fitted the ignition timing retard eliminator from Smart Moto. Will see how it is tomorrow..

What was it that led you to fit a tre on the 650? I always thought they did nothing or next to nothing on those engines.

Put some new tyres on it. The BT023's I had only lasted 6k miles (rear), the three pairs of Anakee 3's I had previous lasted around 10k miles. I was looking to put a pair of Anakees back on but the rear seems to be in short supply so I opted for a pair of Bridgestone A41's.
