Sounds like a great days ride! A screen that’s suits the rider makes such a difference, I myself have the cheaper Givi touring screen and can ride with my visor up on the motorway with no wind or turbulence at all. Love it and doubt you will ever go back to a shorter screen unless going off road  :)

Installed these bad boys from Full Blast today and what a substantial difference in lighting. Will do a full review shortly.

120 odd, rather moist miles around the Peaks with the missus and a friend who's recently joined the biker fold. Roads were quiet but then it was grim, swings and roundabouts I guess🤣.

That Holme Moss car park Rixington43? Some lovely roads in the area if it is.

Certainly is, Mortimer Road across The Strines is one of our favourites.
My folks have just moved up Holmfirth way so the weekend commute is a beauty.

Mortimer Road is one of my faves as well. I went along there the other week and I was quite surprised at the amount of potholes that have appeared at the Bolsterstone end where it was re-surfaced for the Tour de France.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

As it’s rained all weekend thought I would do another service, bit short of 3,000 miles since last time but I’m bored.

After the usual oil and filter I thought I should change the spark plugs. No need to as they had only covered 20k but Halfords gave me voucher so I got a pair of NGK Iridium for free. The bike seems a little smoother but will see over the coming week as I have lots of miles to cover 😊.

Went to the end of the tarmac, behind is the start of the non-metalled Corrieairack Pass. One brave soul doing it on a push bike. Much nicer weather at Loch Garten

Fitted Hyperpro lowering links to my 1050xt. A simple job made a tad awkward as access to two out of the three bolts holding the links on is compromised by the exhaust. I took the rear wheel out which gave enough access to get a ring spanner in. The bolts are torqued up hard and I had to use my trusty lump hammer on the ring spanner to get them started. Once the bolts are loosened it went well.
I dropped the forks through the clamps 15mm, max advised to go. The Hyperpro links give a 25mm drop at the rear.
I am surprised that I can still get the bike onto the centre stand with a bit of a grunt and the side stand is OK, though will have to watch the camber when using it as the bike leans a bit less when on the side stand.
I set the sag some time ago at 30mm either end. I wound the rear compression up from 8 to 12 clicks to keep the sag the same. Test ride shows no adverse effects to handling, it turns in and holds a line as sweetly as ever. I doubt I will run out of cornering clearance as my hooligan days are over (mostly).
I was on tip toes before this and dropping the bike at standstill was when not if. I am now in with a chance of if not when.
All in all well pleased with the result.

Well if you do find yourself going for it be aware the main stand foot touches the ground just after the hero Bob on left handers. Nothing on rights thou my mates say the exhaust can is mighty close at times.
Nice avatar by the way, love staffie's, I've two, a nice chilled 8year old mate and a mad, cheeky 4year old bitch in more ways than gender!

I will bear that in mind when the mist descends.
My wife and I have had dogs for fifty years and Jakie, our Staffie, was the best of the lot. He died last year, heartbreaking.
My brother summed him up best “a gentle soul in the body of a centurion tank”.
Got two Jack Russel/Paterdale bitches now. I love all terriers, and boy are these terriers! They are on speed for sure!
Enjoy your Staffie’s.

Having sorted the fast idle, I rode her into a field. I do like Monsal Dale 😁.

Picked it up...

It finally happened, I dropped it. Stopped on a slight incline to look at my phone as I was lost. Put the stand down and I must have shifted my weight slightly forward and it slowly went down.
Felt like a right pillock. Luckily a friendly biker came past and helped me pick it back up.

Only damage is a tiny scuff on the crash bars

Warning! This post may contain some images some viewers may find disturbing. Viewer discretion is advised.

I've finally finished some long over due maintenance on the Glee. I think this is everything I need to do, aside from replacing the worn gear lever holder - I'll order one tonight.
Tasks now completed:
Centre stand sanded, repainted (twice due to paint reaction when I used hammerite on the primer I'd used :dl_smiley_banghead: ) - it's now glass black with 3 cans of spray paint on it. Linkage fully greased with ACF50 corrosion block - I doubt these have been greased since they were installed at the 600 mile service (53k ago). Springs reinstalled with the aid of a spring puller and ratchet strap around the rear tyre.
All four footpeg stripped, cleaned and regreased - I removed what can only be described as a grinding paste from the front pegs.
Brake pedal removed, cleaned, regreased and
Side stand removed, cleaned, greased and reinstalled - probably the first time that's been done...
Lower thrust washer torqued as the lock nut was loose and turning freely - it did seem a bit viby the last time I was out, so hopefully that's resolved (couldn't do the upper washer as the tool is too wide for the frame)
Scotoiler drained of what I had been using and refilled with Scotoilers oil - the oil I'd been using was too thick and making the chain too sticky. Chain fully cleaned and lubed.
Chain slider and front sprocket cleaned.
I must have removed about a kilo of general dirt and grime from under the bike & hard to reach places.
All I need to do now is find time to ride it...

Here's some pics (you were warned!)

Yes that was disturbing… my OCD was kicking in

I too had a job to do before the commute to work this week. Both my headlights stopped working over the weekend! Initially it was intermittent then nothing… always happens when the weather is fine and you want to ride.

So after checking this forum and YouTube, I knew the likely suspect. The bulbs were fine and I checked them first. Firstly I dismantled my switchgear to clean and check them… they were all fine. I then did the dash connector modification, pulled the four biggest wires out and soldered them up, individually heat shrunk them then placed them all in one large heat shrink to keep tidy (photo below).

Still no headlights… so strip the bike down and tank off just to get at the connectors under the air filter. Tested them and found the faulty pin in the connector. Cleaned and re-crimped, assembled and result I have both high and low beam back! Bike put back together and ready for work… labour of love this bike  :icon_wink:
